Rackers hasn't won over all Cardinals fans with his current hot streak but his four field goal performance, including a 54 yarder, was enough to claim the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week award. Rackers is the second Cardinal to win the award this season (Morey after the Dallas game) and his streak of 13 straight field goals is the second longest in franchise history (behind his own record of 31).

I guess the sun does shine on a dogs ass every once and a while.

LMAO on the not winning over all of us yet.
Ok Rackers, you make some field goals consistantly when we are behind and we need it for a win followed by not shanking the chip shots, and I’ll let by gones be by gones.
Actually, I take that back, I still won’t be able to stand you Neil “Finkle” Rackers.

Considering he was the THIRD kicker the Cards picked up in '03

He’s done alright. Remember, Neil was the replacement for Tim Duncan who was the replacement for Bill Grammatica. He’s a career ~75% accurate FG kicker who set the bar unattainably high with his 40/42 performance in ‘05. His current mini-streak is second best in the franchise’s history…which tells me that shitty kicker performance is the norm. Clearly he’s the best kicker the Cardinals have ever had but like all kickers, he’s a head case that needs streaks like this so he can kick game winning field goals and not shank chip shots. Your sardonic hatred of the Cardinals’ best kicker ever, boogatt66, may be less of a case of hatred for Rackers but for kickers in general. In that you are certainly not alone.

Congrats Neil. Keep the streak going in a season where it’s actually relevant to overall team performance.

I had to give you some props when I saw Rackers got an award

It’s not every day we have original poetry like that, but I don’t think he’ll have poem engraved on his award or anything.

Your half right Hawk, I guess Rackers was the focal point for my overall hatred of kickers in general.

I haven’t been a fan of kickers since college when we were all busting our ass on three a days and the kickers were on scholarship for kicking a few balls and then taking it into the showers, BS. I don’t like the whole facet of the game and really hate the fact that a kicker dictates the outcome of four quarters of guys selling themselves out on the field by coming in and kicking a ball through uprights.
Plus, traveling with the team as a freshman lineman, I had to shack up with the douche bag kickers on our road games. They would stay up partying all night when I had to actually play the next day. One of them knocked over a spittoon in face when I was asleep because he was drunk when I was sleeping on the ground. This led to a thorough beating and our back up kicker having to kick the next day…

So I guess it could be worse (Gramatica hurting himself jumping for joy), or Neil “Finkle” Rackers, but to me it’s like asking if you’d rather loose your right arm or your left. The lesser of two sucky things!

I figured there was some first-hand experience with kickers for you

I can empathize with your feelings as well. It stinks to have the game come down to some little guy’s plant foot sticking and his kicking motion holding form to muscle memory. When the guy does make the kicks though, it’s worth a little acknowledgment even if all he’s doing is his job.

You can also look at this ST Award for Rackers to be inclusive of Hodel’s snaps and Johnson’s holds.
