Congratulations to Irishcardinal, whose pick against the Cardinals was the difference maker to finish 13-3 on the week.  The top of the standings has suddenly become much tighter with four weeks to go with Hawkwind and Red Reign neck and neck for the lead while CG and AJ are not far behind.   The RotB Pick'em Championship should be a nail biter to the very end for the Cardinals' prize...a prize with a whole lotta autographs on it!  Pictures to be seen as soon as CG has the item in his possession.

DON'T FORGET:  THE STELLAR RAIDERS/CHARGERS GAME ON THURSDAY; YOU HAVE TO PICK ONE OF THEM!  REMEMBER, THE FULL WEEK'S SCHEDULE MUST BE PICKED TO COUNT AS A WEEK PICKED.

This is one of the tougher weeks to pick so far

Even Thursday’s game as each team is so Jeckyl and Hyde but…

San Diego (Raiders’ home away from home but Turner is coaching for his job…again)

We all leave footprints in the sands of time, just watch out for the discarded fish hooks!

by Hawkwind on Dec 2, 2008 7:16 AM MST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

The pressure is on...

Trailing all season I’ve bee pretty relaxed…now with a slim lead I’m feeling the cloud of second guessing coming to play with my picks. I’ve also had to stop reading everyone’s picks to not bias my decisions.

San Diego (see above)
Chicago (In a pursuit position, cannot waiver this week)
Tennessee (Brian Sipe coming off the bench for the Browns?)
NYGiants (Damn, they’re good, better even, without Plaxico)
Minnesota (Culpepper, you found a team that considers you a starter talent finally, a winless team)
Green Bay (Packers are desperate as Favre’s Jets jersey now outsell Rodgers’ jersey locally)
New Orleans (Hard to pick this one…the Saints will be gunning for survival…just changed my pick before finishing this sentence)
Indianapolis (I think the real Colts have arrived)
Miami (Effectively a road game for both teams in Toronto…was going to pick Buffalo all week, now going with Phins)
New England (Seau and Colvin are back? Grogan, paging Steve Grogan, please come in to play QB)
Denver (KC jumped them once, but not twice)
NYJets (Kinda hope the Niners win though for my wife’s Pat’s sake)
Arizona (Feeling like a loser? Take a Rams and call me in the morning.)
Pittsburgh (Time for a revisit of three Super Bowl match-ups)
Baltimore (Another tough one…Ravens are home but the Redskins are too…sorta)
Tampa Bay (Wow, a really good MNF game on paper…sweet!)

We all leave footprints in the sands of time, just watch out for the discarded fish hooks!

Wanted to say this is cool & Offer playoff tickets

Hey Guys,

I haven’t played this with you guys, but I’m in the Fantasy Football league (ranked 7th I believe), and wanted to just say how cool the prize is, as well as the winning PCT% you guys have been putting up. Hawkwind, you should be doing some Vegas bets!

How’d you come across the awesome swag CG?

Playoff tickets
I just wanted to let you guys know my account manager called and told me that I have the option to buy extra playoff tickets if I’d like before they become available to the public. If anyone is interested send me an email and we’ll work out a deal where you just pay for your tickets and parking.

ROTB Fantasy League

Hey what is the prize going to be for the Fantasy league – at least I still have a chance of winning that!!!!
It is getting interesting in the Fantasy league – down to the last week and almost all the teams in playoff contention.

by CardsIrish on Dec 4, 2008 4:50 AM MST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Interesting to say the least

I started out by losing my first 4 games but thanks to my triple J running backs of Jacobs, Johnson and Jones I have climbed to the top of my division – but if I lose this weekend I could be out of the playoffs.
The division you are in is really close so maybe if you guys knock each other off I can make the playoffs with a loss.
I am trying to decide who to start at WR for the weekend – not based on strength but I’m sure the guy I leave out will have a big game.

Crap

I don’t get paid until next week. I think I’m going to try to get to 1 more game this year.

by boogatt66 on Dec 4, 2008 8:54 AM MST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Thats just the season tix holder playoff presale date.

After that they go onsale to the general public.

I’ve been thinking about ordering a couple more today but I’m not sure yet. You have to pay for both games each seat, with the second game being the highly unlikely nfc champ home game. This is also the more expensive of the two games obviously. If that game doesn’t happen the balance paid goes towards next years tickets, which I plan on buying anyway.

If you want a couple seats for the 1st playoff game, Boog, I’m fine with fronting the $ til you get paid. You would only have to pay me for the 1st game because the $ for the 2nd game will likely just go towards my tix next year. This will probably get you better seats than buying w/ the general public.

Playoff pre-sale. Buying my tix today but you have until tomorrow to place your order

Same deal as AJ Birdwatcher put out there. If you’re interested in going I might be able to help you get a little better seats than what will be available for the public. I’ll pay for the NFC Champ game, because if we don’t make it the balance will rollover to my tickets for next year.

If we do make it I’ll offer the tix at what I paid.

I’m just very happy we get to be talking about playoffs!

by CardsFan08 on Dec 4, 2008 12:54 PM MST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Price BTW

Wildcard game:
Range from$50-420 depending on the sections. Pretty much standard prices.

Divisional Playoff
65 – 435, $15 price jump per ticket from face value.

NFC Championship
$120-$490 per ticket.

by CardsFan08 on Dec 4, 2008 2:33 PM MST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Just spoke with rep

Only terrace sidelines & corners for sale at this time until after all STH’s get a chance to purchase their regular seats through tomorrow. Basically, this means upperdeck and nothing between the 20’s.

Base prices shown below per ticket per game, plus add $4.75 facility fee per seat per game.

Divisional round:
terrace sidelines $85
terrace corner $70

Championship round:
terrace sidelines $140
terrace corner $115

Not a lot of group seats left to choose from. I just grabbed 4 in sec 447 row 19 (15 yard line).

Rest of the Best

CHI – I’ve given up on Jacksonville
TEN – Will play strong after last week
NYG – Philly’s high from last week comes to a halt
MIN – wins w/out starting tackles on D
GB – fighting for a wildcard in cold Lambeau
ATL – this is one of New Orlean’s off weeks
IND – hot streak continues
MIA – if buffalo can’t beat SF at home…
SEA – my upset of the week
DEN – revenge from earlier in the season
NYJ – ends SF’s playoff dreams (if there was such a thing?)
AZ – First division title in 3 decades!
PIT – Millions of Dallas fans shed tears simultaneously as the thought of no playoffs draws near
BAL – Defence wins despite the presence of many fans from next door
TB – Game of the week (yeah that’s right, Dallas & Pittsburg fans)

Hawk does his Roger Goodell impersonation:

One of the first rules we came up with (around Week 2 or 3) was to qualify for the Pick’em Championship (and associated prize swag) a member had to pick at least nine weeks of games. Later on we had to define “week picked” as the entire slate of games for that week, allowing for an occasional error of omission (one game a week).

The week after your first picks I mentioned in the Weekly Pick’em article:

Good job “rook”, but there’s still eight weeks left to go! We’re now past the point of entry for any additional players as a total of nine weeks of picks are needed to qualify for Cardinals-related prizes at the season’s end. May as well throw this out into the increasing “Pick’em Player’s Handbook”, tie-breaker on percentages is number of weeks picked as seen above with AJ and Red’s ranking.

Since you jumped in on the last possible week you had to pick the remainder of the NFL schedule to be in the running. bclairao, for example, started late and has skipped some weeks too, but he has to only pick twice more out of the four remaining weeks to qualify.

Another tactic that people could use is to purposefully not pick a week or two and try and ride out their high prediction accuracy to hope no one over takes them or leaders may drop behind them. An autographed football with Adrian Wilson and Matt Leinart’s “John Hancocks” (among others) on it may bring out the strategist is us all.

You can keep picking for the sake of bragging rights for eight weeks’ worth of picks.

Sorry I’m getting all “Roger Goodell-like” on you. After the season is over we’ll toss some ideas out on how to potentially retool the Pick’em league for next year. I’ll also put together the “RotB Pick’em League Official Player’s Handbook” for reference since this year we’ve been forced to adapt the rules as the season progresses, like how to deal with a tie from a couple weeks back.

We all leave footprints in the sands of time, just watch out for the discarded fish hooks!

by Hawkwind on Dec 2, 2008 5:50 PM MST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I see what youre saying and I understand. I did think of a possibility around it though, and its ok if you disapprove. Here it is… I have a “Pick em” account for my yahoo and I did make the picks for week 13. If i post a link so you can go yourself and see my picks for week 13, would you except that? (there is no way I can modify it either. Yahoo wont let you submit picks past the first kick off)

No soup for you!

by Red Reign on Dec 2, 2008 8:12 PM MST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I'm reminded of...

…a time a couple years ago when a buddy in my fantasy football league had heard about a late QB scratch and had adjusted his roster in his “money league” but forgot to bench the same player in our “friendly league”. The QB on his bench blew up for 40+ points and asked if I could (as league commissioner) switch out the two players because he remembered “in the money league” to bench the guy.

I wished him the best of luck in his money league. :D

If I weren’t being “Mr. Poopy-poo” (as my wife calls me after every Cardinals loss) Friday through Sunday afternoon, I would have checked RotB and at least posted a reminder before the AM kickoff (like I did for wongy for the NBC game).

Best of luck with the Yahoo Pick’em. ;-)

SD – oakland isn’t getting any better. san diego isn’t that much better either.
CHI – game will be close.. matt forte will decide it.
MIN – even without the williams twins, they’ll still dominate.
HOU – steve slaton is playing like a man possessed. if schaub doesn’t play, he’ll carry them again (no pun intended).
TEN – titan’s defense too stifling for ken dorsey’s browns.
IND – colts are stinking, but cincy is really terrible.
ATL – saints at home, but falcons are rolling.
NYG – gigantes will win, no matter which eagles come to play.
MIA – ‘phins and the wildcat formation by 9.
DEN – i’m predicting a shootout in this won.
NYJ – niners showing glimpses, but jets too strong on d.
NE – cassel will bounce back in this one.
ARI – cardinals clinch in this game.. i hope

3 games back but making a run

SD – I’d love to pick Oakland but they’re on the road
CHI – Jacksonville has fallen so far so fast
MIN – Detroit’s at home so I’m tempted….well not really
IND – They’re getting hot
PHI – Upset Pick of the Week: Phily’s had ten days off and the Giants have so many distractions
TEN – Who’s starting for CLE these days? They called me about coming in for a workout…..
NO – The Saints are 5-1 in the Big Easy and they’re playing better, not to mention they’re fighting for their playoff lives
GB – I’d love to pick Houston but they stink on the road, not that GB is playing all that well right now either
MIA – Remember when we thought the Dolphins were a joke and the Bills were a quality opponent?
NYJ – I hate the Jets but I don’t have that much faith in the Niners either
NE – Did you realize that the Seapukes haven’t won a game since before Halloween?
DEN – The Broncos are getting hot and they’re at home
ARI – Clinching the West…..Hightower gets a 100 yards……Matt Leinart plays most of the fourth
PIT – I’ve got zero faith in the Cowboys going into the cold, snowy muddy environment and playing as physical as the Steelers
BAL – The Ravens are 8-4, what the hell?
TB – Normally I’d take the home team in a game like this but TB has been playing some good football lately and I’m not sold on CAR
