Arizona Cardinals Defensive Rank: Week 13
Next up is the Week 13 edition for defensive rankings. The Cardinals actually didn't crack the top-ten. Their poor performance against Philadelphia was a result of that. They now are ranked 27th in the league in points allowed per game. Their overall yards allowed and rushing yards allowed are still solid. Pittsburgh's defense remains catastrophic to opposing offenses, maintaining the number 1 defense overall. The NFC East has all four teams in the top-ten, thus proving that this is the best division in football. The Giants continue to shine, being the only team to make the top 5 on offense and defense. The Cardinals need to vastly improve on defense if they want to contend in the playoffs.

Whats everybody’s take on the defensive situation? I think it may be Pendergast. I have been a supporter for him before but he’s just not cutting it this year with the scheme they are running. We need to just play more hard nosed football instead of these exotic formations.
it's hard to tell
They’re CB’s and OLB’s are banged up which has hurt them I think. I think they’re still in a bit of a ‘transition’ phase also. It normally takes a couple of seasons to get the personnel to switch from a 4-3 to a 3-4. Factor all that in and if you think about Rolle learning a new position, we probably should have expected them to struggle a bit. KW’s turnover the past three games haven’t helped their averages either, considering that they led to 31 points.
I’m actually surprised that they’re ranked as high as they are considering that they’re a 3-4 defense (sort of) that gets very little production from their OLBs. Clancy has some boneheaded formations sometimes and I think at times he gets too cute for his own good but I wouldn’t give up him just yet.
27th in PPG directly related to poor field position
Costly turnovers in Cardinal terratory and poor kick/punt coverage. The defence itself is really not that bad in my opinion. The offense and special teams just need stop putting them in bad situations.
