2010 Pro Bowl Moved to Week Before the Super Bowl
In a move that should effect quite a few Arizona Cardinals next year (hehe, see how I tied that in), the NFL has decided to move the date and the location of the 2010 Pro Bowl. Instead of being in Hawaii the week after the big game, the PB will be in the 'dead week' between the conference championship games and the Super Bowl in the host city of Miami. It'll be the first time the PB hasn't been in Hawaii since 1980, although the move isn't a permanent one, yet. So far it's being billed as a one year 'test' to guage interest and as you'd expect, players who are playing in the Super Bowl will be excused from the game. Do you like the move? Does it make you any more or less interested in the game?

Bleh
As if there isn’t enough hype going on during that week? Not that the Pro Bowl skill challenges will really deter the hype of the Super Bowl, still, I’m not sold on this concept. Considering how many players are typically Pro Bowlers and playing in the SB, it potentially dilutes the Pro Bowl “quality”. Okay, that’s an oxymoron, I admit it.
I bet the players that are excused from playing the Pro Bowl for the Super Bowl are wondering if they still get their Pro Bowl $$$?
We all leave footprints in the sands of time, just watch out for the discarded fish hooks!

Considering players from the winning SB team rarely make the trip to Hawaii, it wouldn’t be a huge loss I guess.
It’s interesting about the money though, I wonder if any of them care about the 40K or whatever it is.

They need to make it mean somethin. similar to MLB. homefield advantage but that would be pretty significant in the super bowl wouldnt it? I dont know… somethin needs to change.

never been a big fan of the PB
I’ve always thought it was a waste of a day and certainly not worth the risk (although I can’t remember a single significant injury in the actual game). I’ve never minded the skills competitions though and I normally tune in for some of those. I guess it’s good for the host city but other than that I can’t see how it makes it any more desirable to watch.
Maybe that’s the game that the NFL should send to international waters. The rest of the world would get to see the best players in the league and the homeland wouldn’t lose a regular season game. Is that a better fit?

I love the Pro Bowl
Best Players in the league playing in a game, therefore it is the best game in the league.
:-p
I do always watch it though.
