Arizona Cardinals Cut Roster to 75
As expected the Cardinals made the necessary cut one day early and here's the guys who received their walking papers:
- Marcus Brown (CB)
- Jemalle Cornelius (WR)
- Hercules Satele (OG/C)
- Bryan Robinson (DE) (the undrafted rookie, not the veteran)
None of these names are terribly surprising although I was hoping that Brown and Satele would at least make it to the final cut. Brown is a good sized corner with above average athleticism who was trying to transition from tiny D-1AA McNeese State to the professional level. Satele is somewhat surprising considering that he was the second team center when Al Johnson went down. He had experience at both guard and center and there were some reports that the coaching staff was impressed with him, but obviously it didn't translate to success during the preseason. All four players are still practice squad eligible. Thoughts?

That looks like some fair cuts
Nothing surprising there. Clearly the recent vet additions for the o-line have more potential that Satele.
This cut is really nothing more than a vestige of old cut at this time (it used to be down to 65 at the third week, right?). The league understands that the fourth game is pretty meaningless for the first team players so the rosters still need to be big enough to have depth of 2s and 3s to play in that game.
The biggy, 22 let loose, now that’s the one we’re all making guesses at already. I’ll wait for an official thread to toss my ideas out on that subject.
Is there a list of the active player’s base salaries out there? I’m curious to what Morey is making this year.

That’s a good idea, I’ll definitely have that up in the next day or so.

Check out this list: Salary Cap. It doesn’t have the most recent additions but it’s got almost every Cardinal.

We got Berry and Laboy dirt cheap right now.
If Laboy keeps up this level of play, might be a Probowler for cheap. I see why they let Pace walk now.

Awesome!
Just the list I was needing to see. I see some numbers already that suggest where some cuts may go. The big cuts should be interesting.

Al Johnson maybe?
It’s showing no bonus money tied up with him and who knows how serious that knee is. They could go after someone on waivers or maybe a free agent still out there. Have you guys heard anything on the seriousness of the injury?

I've heard some people mention his name
But I can’t seem them cutting an OL. They’re so thin across the line, but if his knee is worse than expected it might happen. (I’ve got something in the works and we’ll get an update on his knee from Darren Urban himself in the next couple of days)
