Arizona Cardinals' Bertrand Berry Will Not Play Against the Jets

PrintBertrand Berry is headed back to Phoenix after learning that he had a tear in his 
groin. We feared that his injury may be worse than a strain but this is certainly bad news for a guy who has had season ending injuries the past three seasons. Berry was off to a great start with three sacks in the first three games. Coach Whisenhunt said that there is no time table yet for his return. We thought that the return of Chris Harrington might have something to do with Berry's injury and if he's out for an extended amount of time, Harrington should get pulled up to the 53 man roster pretty quickly.
As for this Sunday, Clark Haggans has been working behind Travis LaBoy during practice this week and he'll be the primary backup to LaBoy and Chike Okeafor. While it may not seem to be a big loss, it's worth remembering that Berry was lining up all over the field (OLB, DE and even nose tackle) so far and was consistenty generating a decent pass rush.

Burt should retire
He can’t seem to stay healthy for 9 games a season. That’s over half for the non mathematically inclined. They should let him keep his money as payment for being the new defensive quality control assistant/ assistant defensive line coach. He clearly won’t make it through the season and as they say, those who can’t, coach.
not a bad idea
It’s a good thing that they renegotiated his contract in the off season. At least he won’t be sucking too much of the payroll down with him.
They are saying that it could only be a 3-4 week injury, but that’s still a quarter of the season.
Always seems to be a muscle tear
Biceps, then a pectoral, now a groin tear for Bertrand Berry. Talk about busting your balls on the field to make a play… Is it something in the water? Inadequate stretching? Genetics? I feel for the guy as he does have skills, but the trend for the past three years is suggesting retirement and submitting resumes to various media outlets. I hope he can return soon because the defense is better with him in uniform.
We all leave footprints in the sands of time, just watch out for the discarded fish hooks!
