For those that are in the ROTB fantasy football league, remember that the season kicks off tonight so make sure that you set your rosters for week 1 today. I know it may be discouraging being that team looks so dominant (J/K), but let's all stay active and have a great season.

I’ll have to get in on the RotB League “next year”. Any “dummy” teams you need someone to manage? Otherwise I’ll just bore you all with anecdotes from my league. :P

Could have taken mine

I had to work on draft day, so I let a friend of mine take over my team. I would have rather a Cards fan 1st could have taken it over. You could see from his draft that he’s kind of an Eagles Homer. lol

As long as he got you Westbrook!

Big on Westbrook myself.

LJ Smith was the ridiculous pick. He went undrafted in most leagues. He also picked the Eagles in like the 7th round which was a pretty far reach imo, and he still landed Seattle after that which should be a more productive defense anyway.

This particular scoring system favors QB’s so I advised him to get one in the 1st round. I think his best slinger is Jake Delhomme if I remember correctly. Scary.

the draft was really weird

I wasn’t sure that I was going to be able to make the draft but I’m glad that I did. Their auto-picking system was…….less than ideal to say the least. I think it picked like four QBs in the first five picks and I got AP with the sixth overall pick.

Sounds accurate actually

With 6 pts for passing TD’s, I had Brady, Romo, Brees & Manning all higher than LT or AP.

True but I think Derek Anderson was #5 overall

Maybe someone was really high on him but that still seems pretty crazy.

auto-pick was lame

I had problems logging in as I had to download a Java plugin.
By the time I had got in the thing had picked nearly every player with a bye in week 4.
I had ranked before hand so not too unhappy with my team but I may have to write off that week.

Auto Picks

I don’t know of any auto-pick systems that are smart enough to account for bye weeks. On the bright side, after writing off week 4, you should be stronger than most teams you face in the other bye weeks.

Yeah it is a balancing act

I need a TM to be legal in week 4 though so I am going to see how I go with injuries.

Wrong on Smith & Eagles

Boy was I wrong about LJ Smith this week. Eagles D was solid as well.

Thought of you when I saw LJ had a TD

I think you owe your buddy some beer.

I do

Luckily I won a 12 pack bet on the Cards game, so I can share.

In my other league I was scrambling for a TE to replace Heap and ended up taking R.McMichael over smith. They both had decent games.

No worries

Are you guys using a League Manager interface? If so, it’s easy enough to add me as a secondary owner if one of your teams becomes lame-duck and not managed. I can at least adjust rosters and fish the Free Agent pool to make the squad semi-competitive.

I’m in my 10th season of running the Bludweiser Blood Bowl League of America (3BLA), so I’m pretty busy with that league’s bells and whistles. We contracted from 16 teams to 12 this year due to absent/apathetic owners, so it should be a more interesting and competitive league this year. At least there will be some talent available on the waiver wire with only 12 teams.

I'll see what I can do

There’s always some people that lose track of their team, as you obviously know. This is a new system (AOL Fanhouse) that I’ve never used before so I’m pretty unfamiliar with all the ‘inner-workings’ but I’ll definitely look into that.

Wow, 16 teams is a heck of a league. I’ve always tried to stick to leagues with 10 teams but I can’t imagine have to fill out a 16 team league. There simply aren’t enough decent QBs or RBs are there?

by cgolden on Sep 4, 2008 11:57 AM MDT up reply actions   0 recs

No RBs mostly

We were a 16-team league for three years and that was a challenge to say the least. It forced people to really vulture the waiver wire. A couple of injuries and you’re screwed (but that’s true even in a ten team league). We’ve settled back at 12 as it’s easier on scheduling. The two extra owners (that weren’t “banned for life”) that opted to close their teams are secondary owners on other teams.

I had used NFL.com for the first four years, yahoo one year, and ESPN the past five. We’re league #99 sandwiched among the ESPN employee leagues. Aside from their Smack Boards being ephemeral the past two years, it’s a great set-up on ESPN. I particularly like the History section and being able to review four years past league results. League Main Page should be public. My wife and I are the Gryphons. :)

CG, I'm really not liking the...

Flea flicker league. It’s confusing, and the automated draft screwed me too. I even preranked like 20 positions out but it drafted me four QB’s as well. Yahoo’s FF is great and their automated draft is right on. You should think about switching to them next year.

by boogatt66 on Sep 4, 2008 12:03 PM MDT reply actions   0 recs

well between all of us

The network made a deal with the Flea Flicker system (which is why their adds are all over the site) and so we had to use them. This is their first season to have FF so hopefully they’ll get better but if looks the same next year, we’ll definitely look at other options (even if it’s just for ROTB).

Yahoo is my fantasy league of choice by far so I’m partial to them as well.
