Help settle a bet
I made a bet with someone that there are no cardinals in AZ (aside from the Arizona Football Cardinals). I could be mistaken, but I thought the team transfered from St. Louis, and brought the name Cardinals with them. Is this true, or are there really desert Cards?

Up north I believe, but yeah, it's a horrible name and should have changed with the move.
Who would win in a fight, Whisenhunt or a Hurricane?
Hold on, hold on, what if the Hurricanes name was Whisenhunt?
Daaaaaaaaaa Cards, Da Cards Da Cards Da Cards Da Cards!!!

Yeah the name actually came from Chicago then to St Louis, and now here..
Never seen any Cardinals here.

Only cardinals in Arizona are usually lost ones
Which may explain the football team’s ineptness for years…
Then again, consulting Peterson Field Guild to Western Birds, the cardinal is native to southern Arizona! I guess the team should have moved to Tuscon.

We had them in Prescott where I grew up too.
I have seen a few in my yard in Phoenix over the years but definitely not your everyday bird.
I like the AZ Africanized Killer Bees myself. Those things are nasty and come at least a couple times a year to the school I work at.
Protect the Swarm!!!!! ARGGGG!!!!

Who cares kill the Eagles!
I hope the Cardnails in AZ just beet the crap out of the Eagles that are coming to AZ clip their damn wings!

an eagle wing would be harder to clip than a cardinal wing
5 inch tall cardinal < 3 foot tall eagle

I live just a few miles north of Phoenix
and do see the occasional Cardinal. I saw one last week.

Come to think of it....
How many Eagles are there in Philly?
Bengals in Cincinnati?
Bears in Chicago?
Saints in New Orleans?
Panthers in Carolina?
Lions in Detroit? (paper lions, maybe)
Rams in St Louis?

Haven't you ever seen Monsterquest???
There are supposed to be large Black Panthers roaming the south all the way to the midwest. They have videos of large Black Cats walking through peoples pastures so maybe the Carolina mascot isn’t so far fetched:-)
Speaking of monsterquest, you ever see any bigfoot running around in your years as a Forestry Service Worker Hawk??? Seriously, what do you think? ::Completely off subject::

Lots of bears, a mountain lion twice, a badger, and a few pine martins (males will eat their young, nasty critters!)
Oh yeah, and I was working with that gal that caught on camera the first wolverine seen in CA in 80+ years nearly a year ago.
But no sasquatches except for ones carved out of redwood logs. :P

The Eagles are the Eagles because it is the national bird, and Philly was the first Capital of the USA. I think Bengals and Bears were native to the northern mid-west area. I know New Orleans is famous for something that has to do with Saints, I think it might be a song or something. I always thought the Lions had something to do with Ford, the roar of the engine maybe? I could be making all that up.

"Bengal tigers native to northern mid-west" ~~~ Clyde Simmons
“A tiger, in Africa?!” ~Monty Python and the Meaning of Life
Bengal tigers are native to the Indian subcontinent with other breeds found throughout southeast Asia, not the central plains of North America. You’ll find some lynx perhaps, but now you’re talking about women’s basketball…and who really talks about that?
Chicago Bears is a reference to the Chicago livestock market and how the market is doing: it’s either a bull or bear market. Chicago Bulls (buy, buy, buy)? Chicago Bears (sell, sell, sell)? Chicago Cubs (semi-shitty market?) Chicago Blackhawks? Um, nevermind. Chicago Cardinals? I have seen cardinals in Chicago at least!
So yes, you owe your buddy lunch. After that suggesting tigers are native to North America, I think you owe us all lunch, Clyde. ;-)

“I could be making all that up”
Obviously I was. I’ll consider sending some virtual cheesesteaks too you guys if another theory gets proved wrong.

I read just last week
that an Eagles nest was found in Philadelphia, on the Naval yard. It’s the third Eagles nest found in the city in three or four years. It’s a good sign. Go Eagles!
