Fan of the Giants, stopping by for a chat.
The last two teams to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl face off this Sunday Night in what should be a great game.
After being shell-shocked by the New Orleans Saints at the Super Dome, the New York Giants are going to be hungry for vindication. On the other hand, the Arizona Cardinals got off to a slow start, but have rebounded nicely. Most recently dismantling the Seattle Seahawks, who many felt would take the NFC West back with a healthy Matt Hasselbeck, the Cardinals are right where they want to be as the weather turns to Winter.
So what's up guys? I'm a life-long Giants fan and we can use this thread to swap some trash talk, share some stories, give some predictions, and I'd be happy to answer any questions you have about this New York Giants team to the best of my abilities. Here's to a clean game, with NO INJURIES!

A few questions
What is the status of Justin Tuck? And any other significant injuries?
Why has Brandon Jacobs been relatively quiet this season?
Is your pass defense good, or have they just faced weak competition up until last week?
How can you see the Giants beating the Cardinals?
How can you see the Cardinals beating the Giants?
Has Osi returned to his original form yet?

Hello again Andrew.
Justin Tuck seems to be just fine. Since his injury in Week 2 he hasn’t missed a start, and was only limited in the Kansas City game which was decided in the first half. Expect to see the Justin Tuck your used to seeing out there.
Jacobs is simply not getting any breaks this year. With the premise that our offense lacks a true number one receiver, everyone has been loading the box while putting 11 eyes on 27. I don’t think there’s much cause for concern, as Eli has been making defenses pay for this strategy. The reality of the situation is he’s really missing the couple thirty yard gains we’re used to seeing from the big man, but they will come, and even if they don’t, Bradshaw looks pretty good out there.
Our pass defense is beat up. Safety Kenny Phillips is out for the year, and Michael Johnson and Kevin Dockery have just returned from injury, all the while our best LB in coverage, Michael Boley, has only played one game. Everyone is of course making a huge deal about our lack of a pass defense after we were torched by Brees and Co., but I attribute that a lot more to the lack of a pass rush than to poor secondary play. If I were grading our secondary today, I’d give them a C+.
There is only one way we’re going to beat the Cardinals this week, and that’s with good old fashioned Giants football. We need to control the clock on offense, keep that high powered attack of yours off the field, and score six when we get in the red zone. Defensively we need to get to the quarterback. We need to make him uncomfortable, if he can just sit back there and do what Brees did, we’ll be in for a long game.
On the flip side of things if Warner get’s time, you can pick us apart through the air all day. Even more so if you can run the ball effectively, we bit pretty hard on some PA passes last week. Defensively it’s tough to say, the Giants really haven’t shown weakness on offense. They are right up there with NO as far as balanced attacks go. You must take advantage of any and all turnovers you get, and sustain long drives in order to win this one.
Osi looks fine in passing situations, but he has constantly rushed himself out of the run game this year. I don’t know if he’s still not adjusted to life without Spagnoula, but he certainly does not look comfortable unless the QB is dropping back. Health wise I’d say he’s there, mentally, not so much.

Tuck and Osi
I’d say they’re underperforming to the point where Offenses are not planning their game to neutralize what has in the past been a game-changing threat. Perhaps, then Tuck is not fully recovered.

Hello
Good luck to you guys on Sunday. I think the Giants will win that game [I hope we beat you guys, but the Giants are good], but I’ll be happy as long as the Cardinals can keep it close.
All I’m really wondering is how do you feel about how Warner was treated during the season he was with you guys? Do you think he did a good job playing in the cold while he was there?
I think he did a decent job over there, and he was a lot better than Eli was that year, they could have at least let him try to play for the rest of the Season.

Warner
I liked the guy when he was here, but both sides knew that he was just a stopgap until Eli was ready. Personally, I didn’t think Eli was ready and would have been ok starting Warner for at least a few more weeks, but in the long run it worked out well enough for both parties.
I was in college so I wasn’t following the team as closely as I do now or even as I did when I was younger, but I’m pretty sure Warner handled the situation with a lot of class. I don’t remember any bitching from his end when he got benched.

Kurt
His problem that year was our offensive line and the fact that Warner held the ball way too long. If you just blew a burp in his face he fumbled the ball. He was carless with the ball even when throwing it. In his defense our team was nowhere near the talent level then as it is now, thats way Eli did so bad as a rookie the TALENT just wasn’t there. Glad to see Warner doing good in Arizona he really is a class act and a humble guy. Good Luck Sunday! 23-17 Giants
Question: Is Boldin going to play? I know he said he is a game time decision but what do yall think?

Pass rush..
Is the key. If the Giants can generate one, the game is over. Warner is like a defenseless civilian back there.. Ive said it before and I’ll say it again, the Cards are woefully one dimensional. Fortunately Warner, Fitz, Boldin and Breaston are very good at that dimension!

Which might be trouble...
Considering both Boldin and Breaston are injured and might be limited…

Breaston won't be limited
He got a bone bruise during the preseason and missed the first game. He’s gotten stronger every week and missing/being limited in practice is more of a precaution than anything else. If he was still hobbled by the injury he wouldn’t be returning punts each week.

Yeah I wouldn't take anything from Breaston being on the injury report
He’s been questionable since week 1 but hasn’t missed a game since then.

WR corps
How do you guys see your receiving corps shaking out over the next year or so as far as starters go? With so many promising youngsters Smith, Manningham, Nicks, Hixen etc, it seems like they’ll have plenty of options. Are any of those guys going to be a bona-fide #1?

I doubt the Giants'll be drafting at WR...
they have some talent. General consensus seems to be Nicks could someday be a traditional No. 1 (stretch-the-field) type guy, Smith is a great slot performer, Manningham could fill the 3rd spot well. Most of us feel Hixon has shown great potential at KR/PR and was sort of Peter-Principled into the WR position, but who knows how he’ll develop. That “promotion until no-longer-good” phenomena looked like it might hurt Smith if they tried to turn him into a vertical guy, but they’ve kept playing to his strengths.
I’d like to see Hixon stay at option 4 / KR, unless he begins to outplay Ham.
And of course, developing in the wings is Manute Bol Ramses Barden, who should someday either be great, or nobody! Derek Hagan is our serviceable special teams/ 5 man

Wide Outs
We aren’t quite Fitz and Bold but I think they can be as dynamic, Nicks is definitely the guy we are relying on, he seems to have the most potential and makes some great plays kind of like Fitz, Dont get me wrong he is no Fitz but he is are Fitz.. Anyone catch that?? Anyways I like all of our WRs Smith is the best of the bunch he can do it all and is one of the best at getting open on 3rd down. Great thing about them is they are all very young and haven’t even come close to their Peak! I do hope they become that Fitz-Bold duo in Nicks-Smith duo very soon…

This one's kinda off topic
Out of the rest of the NFC East(Redskins, Eagles, Cowboys), which team is your biggest rival/do you hate the most?
On topic
Whats the status of your O line? I recall a lineman getting injured against the Saints.

McKenzie
stepped on a football that was loose and pulled the groin… he’s ok
I hate the Eagles most, because of their fans, success, black visors, several recent cheap shots (by recent I mean over 5 years), Michael Vick, etc…
I used to hate the Cowboys the most, but the dumping of TO, Pacman, and Roy “Horsecollar” Williams has helped, and also they’ve faded from the 90s greatness.
Never hated the skins. They’ve always been either classy enough, or hapless enough, to fly under my fan-hate radar!
You play to win the game!

I go back and forth
between the Eagles and the Cowboys. Two years ago I hated the Cowboys more, but for most of this decade it’s been the Eagles. In the 90’s it was the Cowboys by a country mile.
I hate the Eagles b/c I hate Philadelphia, but I do respect the organization – they’re extremely well run. The Cowboys, on the other hand – I have nothing against Dallas, but I just hate that team. So it’s different kinds of hate, I guess.
As for the O-Line – Kareem McKenzie, our right tackle (and probably “least important” O-lineman, not that he’s not good) got hurt and sat out the 2nd half last week, but as of yesterday it was looking like the injury was less serious than originally thought. He might be able to go on Sunday, but if not rookie William Beatty will take his place. He has played pretty decently in his opportunities (McKenzie got hurt in an earlier game too that Beatty finished).

By Far it's the.....
Cowboys, Eagles are a close second but they haven’t ever won anything and the people in Texas seem to be prejudice against New Yorkers… You know the whole Yanks vs the South confederate flag stuff…
Mckenzie got hurt but looks like he will play, although i have full confidence in William Beaty he really is going to be a stud in my mind.

how has Clint Sintim looked?
We talked about him quite a bit leading up to the draft and were hoping that the Cards might snag him.

he’s only played in one (?) game due to a groin injury

mostly good
got beat on at least one play against the Saints last week, but then again, so did everyone else. Other than that I haven’t noticed him during his stints on the field, which is about the biggest compliment you can give an O-lineman.
