ROTB Survival Pick'em: Week 4 Results and Week 5 Picks

PrintWe are now officially a quarter(roughly) of the way through the season, and the pile remains split. Nobody was eliminated last week, but like manphibian pointed out, a lot of people were probably sweating out the Browns/Bengals game. I have to say that the best strategy at this point is to pick whoever's playing the Rams, Chiefs, or Browns. This also marks a point in the survival pick'em season when the good teams start getting weeded out of the mix. It makes for a challenging pick, but it is also more interesting. I was wondering about the same thing irishcard; Are you keeping a spreadsheet with peoples picks each week so you can make sure people aren’t taking the same team twice, or just going by the honor system?
I got it all saved so I know who picked who.

I don't know if I mentioned this here or not
But I almost ended up taking Lions over Redskins a few weeks ago, too, but decided to go with the safe pick since everybody else was doing the same. I don’t mean to boast or anything, but damn I am on the money! whoo! >_>
I did take the lions over the redskins.
But somehow I forgot that I was one of the first to pick that same week. Both my picks won but if for some reason I was eliminated, it was fun while it lasted.

we all survived, didn’t we?
Here’s a random idea I’m throwing out there – what if, just to make it a bit more competitive, next year the Survival Pick’em (or it can be a differently organized game) uses the Vegas lines, and not just straight matc ups. If the underdog in any particular match up wins and you picked them, then you’re safe. However, if the favorite wins, they must also beat the spread or you’re eliminated.

I once played a survival where 90% of the players in a 500 player pool went out in two week 1 upsets. The whole pool was over by week 5. I won actually it was about $1000.
This year is kinda wierd cause there are several NFL teams that really do appear to suck rather than one or two – Oakland, St. Louis, Tampa, KC, Buffalo, Cleveland (in no particular order) are all looking at 2-14 seasons or worse right now.
Now it starts to get interesting as teams have picked 4-5 winners and are starting to run out of elite teams to choose. Your picking da Browns will help you in later weeks
Also since boogatt6 and Red Reign didn’t make picks they are out by my count that leaves 16 guys at 5 and me at 4.
I’m just bummed I didn’t see the site had a survivor game until after week 1 was over.
