Interesting stats with Warner and Aaron Rodgers.
"These numbers are Kurt Warner's new stats after Week 8...
1: Kurt is 1st in the NFL in pass attempts per game with 40.5
2: Kurt is tied with 2nd place in the NFL at throwing interceptions holding that spot with none other than Chicago QB Jay Cutler at 11 INTS, with Jake Delhomme holding down the worst spot in the NFL at 13.
10: Kurt holds 10th place in the NFL at completion % at 65.4%
15: Kurt is 15th in the NFL for Touchdowns with 11.
19: Kurt is 19th in the NFL in Passer rating with 81.5
Some would argue that lack of O-line Protection has hindered his stats, "rattling" his confidence and accuracy. Kurt Warner has been sacked 14 times in the season now. These assertions have been disproved however with the example of another NFL QB who has all similar stats as Warner except for 3 areas of concern:
Aaron Rodgers of Green Bay has had little protection and been sacked a league high 31 times (over twice that of Warner), yet his passer rating is the best in the NFL at 110.4 and another incredible stat, through all of that lack of protection and 31 sacks, Rodgers has only thrown 2 interceptions so far in 2009."

As a packer backer...
I’m glad that Rodgers is getting some respect. Not that anyone ever really doubted him, though. Starting next week, I expect Chad Clifton and Mark Tauscher to be started at the tackles. That should help our O-line situation.
I did watch the Cards-Giants game. To me it seems that warner is perhaps a little less mobile than rodgers. But given time, Warner can slice almost any defense up. I think there is the difference between the two.
Interesting stats!

Rodgers extends plays though with his legs.
I’ve seen Rodgers roll out of the pocket to make plays, like Brett Favre does. Warner is nothing like that. If Warner gets flushed out of the pocket he stinks up the joint and will probably fumble or throw an interceptions, just like he did yesterday against Carolina. I really do not think they are comparable just based on that.

When Warner rolls out of the pocket, you can see that forced fumble coming from a mile away.
What? I didn't break it, I was just testing its durability, and then I placed it in the woods becuase it's made out of wood and I just thought he should be with his family.

Not a great comparison, imo
Any time you watch a GB game, everyone is yelling at Rodgers to throw the ball away. He isn’t throwing interceptions because he isn’t throwing the ball, he’s taking the hit. He has 225 attempts. Warner has 283. Green Bay has a more productive run-game. Etc.

Maybe Warner should just try to take a hit,
instead of giving the opposition good field position or 6. He tries to force things when harried. Now a line backer coming to his face on an overload blitz, that an entirely different ballgame. Less people defending the middle, and generally one-on-one situation. Our tackles need to step it up, they can’t keep being beaten on a four man rush. Those guys need to really work on their footing…

Warner vs. Rodgers
I happened to be watching the Cards game and Packers game side-by-side last week, and was raking my face over the difference between these two guys. It wasn’t necessarily Rodgers’ legs that helped him complete passes, it was his ability to step up in the pocket, and have the patience to let the play develop. On the screen next to that one, you see Warner dumping it off no matter how long he’s given to make a play. And when Rodgers whiffed on an open receiver, he still hit someone in the end zone. It’s like Warner can’t see the field anymore.
Finally, let me just say that this season seems a lot like Warner’s 2002 season, where he claimed to have an injured hand after the season was over. That was also the season that he lost his job to Marc Bulger. Perhaps Warner isn’t telling us something about that hip, or the elbow (remember the last regular season Panthers game?), or the wear from playing 20 games last year.
I’m also saying that Warner is the worst QB that no one is talking about losing his job. I mean, Jason Campbell has a better QG rating for god’s sake!
