The Cardinals improve to 4-0 on the road with a victory against Chicago.
The Arizona Cardinals improved to 4-0 on the road as they beat the Chicago Bears 41-21 Sunday afternoon in Chicago. The Cardinals are only one of four teams to be still be undefeated on the road this season, Indianapolis, Cincinnati and New Orleans are the others. With the win the Cardinals improve to 5-3 overall and have a two game lead over both the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks.
The day started off with the Cardinals scoring touchdowns (all on passes thrown by Kurt Warner) on its first four possessions en route to a commanding 31-7 halftime lead. Arizona rolled up an impressive 320 yards in the first including 131 on the ground while holding Chicago to one touchdown and 191 yards of total offense.
Arizona extended its lead to 34-7 early on in the third quarter when Neil Rackers kicked a 30 yard field goal.
Early in the fourth quarter Chicago scored 14 points to have some hope. First they went 57 yards capped off by a three yard pass from Jay Cutler to Greg Olsen. After an Arizona turnover Cutler and Olsen hooked up again this time from 20 yards away and the Cardinals lead was all of a sudden only 34-21.
Arizona then responded when it capitalized a Chicago turnover into a touchdown pass from Warner to Steve Breaston to stretch the lead back to 20 at 41-21. Chicago did not threaten again. Arizona, for the game, totaled 438 yards of total offense with 182 of those coming on the ground while Chicago had 417 in total offense but only 70 yards on the ground.
Notes:
-The last time The Cardinals won four road games in a single season was 2001 when they finished 4-4 and 7-9 overall. The last time the Cardinals won four straight road games was in 1982.
-This was second time this season that the Cardinals had over 100 yards rushing in a single game. Jacksonville was the other game.
-The last time a Cardinal quarterback threw for five touchdowns was in 1969 two years before Kurt Warner was even born.
