Who Has the Edge?

Pos.

Edge

Analysis

QB

Kwth8f1cfa2sch5xhjjfaof90_medium

Matt Hasselbeck hasn't been able
to lead the offense to W's. Kurt Warner
has had an up and down season, but
currently has the Cardinals in 1st place
in the NFC West and is comng off of a
5 touchdown performance.

RB

Kwth8f1cfa2sch5xhjjfaof90_medium

The Seahawks running game
hasn't been great, and they currently
rank 30th in the league. The
Cardinals running game has had problems
to start the season, but has since been
improving and ran for 182 yards last week.

WR

Kwth8f1cfa2sch5xhjjfaof90_medium

The Seahawks receivers have been able to
stay healthy this season, but haven't been
spectacular. The Cardinals still have the
edge at wide receiver for obvious reasons,
and should get Anquan Boldin back today.

TE

Seahawk_medium John Carlson has been great for the Seahawks
offense. The Cardinals have rotated tight ends,
which have helped the offense quite a bit.
Ben Patrick has been very good since returning
after a 4 game suspension, as he and Anthony
Becht both caught touchdown passes last week.

OL

Kwth8f1cfa2sch5xhjjfaof90_medium

The Seahawks have improved slightly by
starting to get healthy on their offensive line.
However, the inconsistency may hurt them today.
The Cardinals have had the same offensive line
the last 2 years and have been starting to click
together the last few weeks.

Pos.

Edge

Analysis

DL

Kwth8f1cfa2sch5xhjjfaof90_medium

The Cardinals defense is still one of the
best at stopping the run, and that should
remain the same after today. They're also
tied for 3rd in the league with 21 sacks on
the year. The Seahawks have talent on the
defensive line, but haven't quite made the
hurdle as a dominant line just yet.

LB

Seahawk_medium Featuring David Hawthorne, LeRoy
Hill, and Aaron Curry, this unit
widely has the edge over a Cardinals
linebacking corpse that is banged up,
with Gerald Hayes and Chike Okeafor
being doubtful for today's game.

CB

Seahawk_medium

The Seahawks have Marcus Trufant back, and
also have Josh Wilson lined up opposite of
him. They've been solid against the pass
as of late. The Cardinals are coming off a
win against the Bears, but gave up 369
passing yards and 3 touchdowns to Jay
Cutler...ouch.

S

Kwth8f1cfa2sch5xhjjfaof90_medium

The Seahawks can't compete at safety with
the likes of Adrian Wilson and Antrel Rolle.
Wilson had problems with Greg Olson last
week, and needs to play his best game
this week with John Carlson at tight end.

ST

Split

Again, going by the numbers, the
punt/kick returns on offense and defense
are head to head. The Cardinals have been
solid with field goal blocks, punts in the 20,
and good kicking, but the Seahawks have
also faired well in the same situations.
Coach

Kwth8f1cfa2sch5xhjjfaof90_medium

Ken Whisenhunt has now made the Cardinals
a very good road team, something they have
rarely been before. Jim Mora Jr has his team
in the third place and may be heading for
another early draft pick. Easy call here.
Edge

Kwth8f1cfa2sch5xhjjfaof90_medium
8-4

This one isn't as close as the first meeting as
the Cardinals showed they could dominate
this Seahawks team in Seattle the first time
they met. Now the Cardinals play them at home,
a place where they desperately need a win.

Go Cardinals!!!

ILB Gerald Hayes, OLB Chike Okeafor, TE Ben Patrick, and WR Sean Morey....

are all inactive for today’s game.

Hayes is out because of his back for the 2nd week in a row.
Morey is out because of a concussion he suffered last week.
Okeafor is also out because of a bad back.
Patrick hurt his knee last week.

Stephen Spach is back from a sprained ankle and should take his starting spot back.

I think

a healthy Boldin is a difference maker. Not having Patrick will hurt, and Hayes and Okeafor being out is not a good thing for our Defense. Hopefully Highsmith, Berry, and Will Davis will finll in admirably.

by robloosli on Nov 15, 2009 2:13 PM MST up reply actions   0 recs

Okeafor especially...

That really hurts the OLB depth and has been arguably our best pass rusher this season.

Looking forward to a statement game

from the Cards today. We need to win this game to regain some of our confidence at home. I think we need to establish the run game early and often. We do that and we will win this game.

by robloosli on Nov 15, 2009 1:44 PM MST reply actions   0 recs

Yep, almost a must win for today.

If we lose, not only do we go to 1-4 at home on the season, we also let Seattle back into the division race as they would be just 1 game behind us in the standings.

Welcome FF

How’s your team going to look today?

by robloosli on Nov 15, 2009 2:06 PM MST up reply actions   0 recs

Well, Seattle is as healthy as it's ever been.

But they still lay eggs on the road, so I think Seattle is either going to dominate or get dominated like the first Week 6 match-up. No middle ground.

Was surprised at how close the Rams made it against New Orleans.

They lost 28-23 but were driving down the field there at the end of the game to almost win it.

When he gets the chance to play...

he usually plays pretty well. Last week he had 4 targets and he caught all 4 in his first game of the season being active.

I was a big fan of him at LSU.

Surprised a team hasn’t tried to trade for him because he looks like a steal buried on a deep depth chart.
