Who Would You Take From the St. Louis Rams?
Seriously guys. In preparation for our meeting on Sunday, I thought I'd get the conversation going with a popular topic, in which we select the player(s) that we would want from the team we're playing that week. This week just happens to be the struggling 1-8 Rams, who are experiencing yet another losing season. There are some bright spots however, in players among their current roster. As the headline states, who would you take from the Rams? It can be a young or older player, a starter or a back up, etc. You can also take their current contract status into consideration, as if we were actually signing the player. Also look at who may be leaving our team after this season. Here are some of my picks.
Steven Jackson: Jackson would likely be the pick for any team, and that's because he's not only the best player on the Rams, but possibly one of the best players in the league. Before you say we already have Beanie Wells and Tim Hightower, listen to this. He's currently 3rd in the league with 915 rushing yards, and is averaging 4.8 yards per carry. Add in his 231 receiving yards, and Jackson alone counts for 42% of the St. Louis offense. That boy can play some football. He can play left, he can play right, don't make no difference. He can block, tackle, score the touch down, snap the ball, and kick the extra point. Hell, the boy will fill up the Gatorade cooler, walk the dog, and paint your back porch. I'm telling ya, the boy can plain outplay football. OOHH! And he can pass! (Okay, I took that last part from the movie Friday Night Lights, but it's true.)
Oshiomogho Atogwe: Atogwe is currently one of the premiere free safeties in the league, capable of dropping in coverage or defending the run. He's a play-maker on the ball, and is a threat whenever he's on the field. He's currently 2nd on the team in tackles with 58, has 1 sack, 1 forced fumble, and 2 interceptions - and did I mention he's a safety? With the possibility of Antrel Rolle not extending his contract next season, Atogwe would certainly be a solid, if not better replacement.
Jason Smith: Now before anyone crucifies me for making this pick, let me say that with our situation at offensive tackle, a rookie might be an improvement. He was very touted heading into the 2009 draft, which is one reason the Rams selected him 2nd overall. He's very fast for a tackle, and has a tremendous upside. If Gandy doesn't get resigned next year, Smith would shore up a position that we wouldn't have to worry about for years.
Other notables: James Laurinaitis(1st on team with 60 tackles), Ron Bartell(young play-making cornerback), Leonard Little(Old but leads team with 5 sacks), Donnie Avery(fast receiver that would compliment current receivers nicely)
That's who I would want, what would your picks be from the Rams and why?

I am confident that Beanie can be just as good and Timmy is a nice compliment.
The numbers put up by Jackson are impressive but part of the reason he has such numbers is he actually gets the ball the most. Here in AZ Warner and the receivers get the most. Now Beanie probably would not have the same numbers that Jackson has and early on his numbers would not looks like a 4.6 average per carry like it is now. The way he is running now though, I think he is almost as good as having Jackson.
Since I think our backs are just as capable I’ll take James Luarinaitis. The guy is a very solid linebacker that we would love to have backing up Hayes and Dansby. This would help out that depth that has been tested the past few games with Ali HIghsmith filling in for Hayes. Highsmith has shown he won’t be a suitable replacement for Dansby when he leaves but Luarinaitis should fill in nicely for him.

I love Beanie
Just saying right now he and Jackson would be a dominant duo. Laurinaitis would be a great addition.
What? I didn't break it, I was just testing its durability, and then I placed it in the woods becuase it's made out of wood and I just thought he should be with his family.

Yea, they would be a force to be reckoned with
especially with our passing game in the mix.

As much as I like Stephen Alexander......
I’d take Jason Smith or James Laurinaitis. Smith would be an improvement over either one of our tackles and Laurinaitis could step into Dansby’s role next season.

Stephen Alexander? Is that a cross between Steven Jackson and Shaun Alexander?

We Need Linebackers
We need depth at all the linebacker positions and our current linebackers may not be around much longer. Laurinaitis would be a great addition. I am surprised that Chris Long hasn’t been more productive, but he is only in his second year. He’s extremely athletic for his size.

Long might actually be better in a 3-4 defense
His athleticism is good for his size but he’s a really big 4-3 DE and while his athleticism is really good for his size, he’s not a “turn the corner” guy like Freeney. He’s a “motor” guy with a good mix of strength, athleticism and a motor that just won’t stop. I could imagine him being like a better version of Brent Keisel (Steelers DE) in a 3-4 defense.

He'd be a good addition either way.

Jason Brown would be a great addition to our o-line
and how about their coach??? I like what Bill Davis has done, but having coach spags as assitant d-coordinator probably wouldn’t hurt..

turning their head coach into our D-Coordinator sounds like something that even Madden wouldn't allow
Plus Spags runs a 4-3 so we’d have to switch defenses again.

Yeah
That wouldn’t work out to well. Brown I would take though.

Ron Bartell would be a good pick up.
Bartell opposite DRC? Could be a DOMINANT secondary if Bartell could stay healthy, which his health through out the season would probably improve under Lotts.

Would make a very good CB duo, then with Wilson and Rolle.
