Leinart's play proves Warner's importance
Interesting article, it shows Leinart knows what his problems are [footwork], and there was something about him correcting Whiz when he called the wrong plays.

I think if Kurt could not go next week...
Matty would be just fine. Of course they were out of sync. Has Matty practiced with the first team? Probably not. It took Kurt five games to get in sync and he was the starter. Give Matty a break. He had no turnovers, made some good decisions and we won the game.
Life's too short. Be a fan. Orlando Magic, Arizona Cardinals,Tampa Bay Rays and of course "the U"! What a winning combo.

Leinart
Leinart practicing with the first team has nothing to do with him having a fundamental inability to throw the ball on target. Many of the passes I saw him throw were consistently a good 1-2 feet above the heads of the receivers. This is not something that just happened in this game either.

check this out from Darren Urban
Leinart acknowledged he had a little problem with high throws. Whisenhunt said it’s partially because Leinart just hasn’t gotten enough playing time. It is an issue Leinart has worked with a lot with quarterbacks coach Chris Miller. "It’s been my little problem this season and I have been working hard to fix stuff on my release," Leinart said. "I know when I throw a high pass, I know exactly why so I have to correct those things and that’s what I try to (fix) during the week."
They’re obviously tinkering with his mechanics and it’ll take time for him to become comfortable with a new throwing style or different footwork. It’s the same as trying to tweak a guys swing in baseball, it takes time and he doesn’t get much time under center during practice.

not accurate
In Warner’s second game he set a record for pass percentage agains the Jaguars, including two touchdown passes. The only thing that gets Warner out of sync is lack of protection.
Good backups are paid to be “in sync” when they get the chance. To me, “Matty” is going to have to show alot more than this or the Cardinals better start looking elswhere for the QB beyond Warner. After this, we’re supposed to think Leinart will be “just fine” against Tennessee? I wish.

Leinart
Whether or not Leinart is the QB of the future or not, we have now seen enough of him in substitute situations to know just how big a drop-off in performance there is when Warner leaves a game. It is substantial and, in my view, shows two things: just how great Warner is, and just how far Leinart has to go. The Cardinals passing offense is intricate and requires great timing and “feel” between QB and receivers. Those who think the Cardinals have great receivers and that any QB can come in and be productive are kidding themselves. The improved running game will certainly take some pressure off Leinart should he have to take over, but he does not instill confidence with performances like this and others this season. You have this feeling that he is a little disoriented and unsure of himself. Up to now I have been willing to write it off as simply being rusty from lack of work, but this is the NFL and backups have to be able to come in and take charge capably. Given the number of snaps Leinart has taken in his career, he ought to be more comfortable and in command than he seems. Whether this is from lack of work in practice I don’t know, but this is the second recent appearance in a row where he threw an “out” pass when Fitzgerald was running an “in” pattern. In summary, I don’t think the 10 of 14 passing is an accurant indication of his proficiency. They’d better work things out in practice or the Cardinals will have a big problem if Warner goes down.

Yea cause 25 (54 over the last 2 seasons) passes tells everything you need to know about a QB....

No
Who said 54 passes tells you everything? Still, most guys don’t get even that many to prove themselves. I suspect that if Leinart did not come into the NFL with such high expectations, by now he’d be on somebody’s taxi squad. Not that he has no chance to develop, but QB’s typically aren’t given too many games to show their worth. It’s entirely legitimate to make judgements about an inexperienced QB based on their demeanor, how they move in the pocket, decision-making under pressure, and a host of intangibles. It’s not like you can’t make judgements until the player has started 30 games or has thrown so many passes. Having said all that, I hope Leinart developes, because there are no other options at the moment if Warner can’t go.

+1
This is how I feel every time the Leinart debate gets warmed up.

Everyone expect him to be Warner right out of the gate.
The fact is he may never be Warner but he still has a chance to be good. Funny how people expect him to have Hall of Fame type play right of the bat. Guess that’s what you get for having 99 career touchdowns at USC.
At any rate I always bring up this point too.

I want to see how Matt does with a week of practice with the starting offense before I criticize him.
He could split time with Warner in practice this week, and then Whiz will have a better idea if Matt is ready to play if Warner’s head still bothers him.

Everyone should keep in mind that we did the same thing against Houston.
Warner wasn’t passing the ball very well in the second half, he only got 40 yards and I think he only made 6 out of 15 throws. Leinart was 10 out of 14 for 74 yards.
The playcalling wasn’t great in the second half for both of those games. And it doesn’t help that Matt doesn’t get much time with Fitz and Boldin.
