Ask Windy City Gridiron
Okay Cardinals fans, since I haven't seen anyone from the Bears page making this thread, and because that I am also a fan of the Bears since a lot of people in my family are from Chicago, I'll just do it myself.
I know enough about how the Bears have played this season to answer most of your questions, and hopefully someone from Windy City Gridiron will drop by to help out.
So, ask away.

Da Bears?
What’s going on with M. Forte?
What’s the status of Urlacher’s recovery – is he expected to be 100% next season?
What’s the impression of the Cutler deal half way through the season?
Is Hester going to play?

Forte – Problems with the Offensive Line, Forte is a good runner but they are doing a horrible job blocking for him. Like what we have here.
Urlacher – I’m not sure about him, but I believe he should be okay next Season.
Cutler – Its mixed, sometimes he looks like a Pro Bowler that can lead 4th quarter comebacks [Steelers and Seahawks games], and sometimes he will have horrible games. Just look at how badly he played against the Packers and the Bengals.
Hester – I think that he will play, but I heard that he won’t be returning punts if he does.

well
Forte is struggling behind a god awful OLine and play calling that lacks creativity and common sense and doesn’t cater to his strengths. There are also rumors that he is nursing an undisclosed injury.
Urlacher is a beast. A year off may help his back some. I thought he looked good this summer and I expect him to be back and have a good season next year.
Cutler is what I expected. The play calling does not suit the skill set of both Cutler and the OLine. The pass protection is very poor. I’m impressed with his talent and happy with his play so far. He has the tendency to force it when things aren’t going well, but we can’t run the ball so he pretty much has to carry the team. The guy takes a lot of hits, extends plays and has made some spectacular throws, but needs to minimize the mistakes.
Hester – I think that he will play, but I heard that he won’t be returning punts if he does.

Hopefully you'll get a good amount of questions. It's later in the week so probably not.
Who’s line is worse? Cards or Bears?
What’s one way the Bears can beat the Cards on Sunday?
What’s one way the Cards can beat the Bears on Sunday?
Is Lovie Smith on the hot seat?
What? I didn't break it, I was just testing its durability, and then I placed it in the woods becuase it's made out of wood and I just thought he should be with his family.

The O-Line for the Bears is worse, Cutler is lucky he is so mobile or he would have been sacked more than Aaron Rodgers by now. Cutler always has pressure on him, even the Browns were able to get at him, and they aren’t opening any holes for Forte.
The Bears need Cutler to win the game for them because Forte probably won’t be able to do much. They should use the same plan the Texans used in the second half of that game if they want to win.
The Cardinals need to keep themselves from turning the ball over, they need to keep the offense balanced, and the Bears use a “bend but don’t break” defense with a lot of zone coverage, Warner should try to do what Carson Palmer did to them in the Bengals game.
I’d say that most of the Coaches are on the hot seat right now, on Windy City Gridiron a lot of people there don’t like Lovie very much and they think that the offensive coordinator is doing a horrible job.

I forgot that both teams need to be able to get pressure on the Quarterback.
Ogunleye is a good pass rusher and I think that he is the biggest threat on the Defensive Line, and I think that Campbell/Dockett will be able to get through the Bears O-Line too.

Alex Brown
Is better than Wale. Ogun got 1/5 a sack that should have gone to Brown. That would make them tied for the team lead at 4 a piece. At least one of Wale’s sacks came when no one even attempted to block him.

Didn't anyone think of this in Cincinnati?

Bears OLine allowed Cutler (a mobile QB) to the Cleveland Browns (the NFL’s lowest ranked defense). The Browns failed to sack Aaron Rogers the week before. Their run blocking is even worse. No way the Cards OLine can suck more than that.
Bears can beat the Cards with constant pressure on Warner, good coverage in the secondary, and sure tackling on defense. On offense, the OLine must protect Cutler the TEs must be used effectively, especially in the red zone. The offense needs to get into a rhythm early and stay there. ST must make things easier on the offense with good field position.
The Cards can beat the Bears by putting Cutler on his back and forcing him to get rid of the ball. Open up an early lead and frustrate Cutler, and he’ll turn it over. Warner should exploit the soft spots in the zone, and the inexperience of the secondary. Run the ball to keep the passing game open.
Lovie has a lot of money left on his contract; he’s staying here. If the Bears offense continues to struggle, OC Ron Turner may be gone. His play calling (esp in the red zone) has been suspect. He didn’t endear himself to fans last Sunday by repeatedly getting plays out late. I’m sick of the bad calls, lack of discipline and motivation, and unpreparedness; the coaches need to improve.

Part of the loss in Atlanta can be blamed on Turner
Some of his bad calls, along with the O-Line problems led to fumbles and interceptions.

Yeah playcalling has been bad - especially in the red zone.
They had 4th and goal at the 1 in Atlanta, they should have tried a TE pass play. He was terrible in the Browns game too. The wildcat and that delayed screen stick out to me, but there were others that were just WTF calls. Ron Turner is stuck between a rock and a hard place. Everyone can plan against him because he pulls out the same 4 plays every week (have you heard the Ron Turner song yet “run, run, pass, punt…”) and when he tries to do something different it’s even more unsuccessful.

Where are they headed?
We all know that the Bears got the SB with a great defense, great special teams and a offense that desperately prayed not to screw things up……my question now is what is their identity? Bringing in Cutler would seem to signify a shift towards a passing game but they’ve got jack for receivers and the defense seems like it’s aging. Is this team on it’s way up or down?

who knows?
My personal feeling is that the defensive decline started when Ron Rivera was sent packing for Lovie’s BFF Bob Babich (who was so bad he doesn’t even call the plays this season).

They are about as unpredictable right now as the Cardinals were.
Sometimes they look like Playoff contenders, then they look like nothing can go right for them.
I see a shift towards passing more with Cutler, and that should continue until the line can block for Forte. Some of the receivers like Hester and Knox are getting better, especially with a Quarterback like Cutler throwing hard enough to make you get better at catching the ball.

Needs heading into the draft
I know it early but what needs will the Bears have heading into the draft?
Also how are Gilbert and Melton doing so far this year? I really liked Melton and actually had the Cards taking him in my mock….

I can’t see Pace getting another year so Williams will probably move to LT (the position he was drafted to play). Beekman is a band-aid at LG (he played C in college). Immediate draft needs are RT & LG. OL is priority #1.
