What to do with Tumble & Fumble

These are the new nicknames for Wells & Hightower. I am growing tired of Wells falling over himself in the backfield and missing out on provided holes (obviously I am sick of his fumble but am using this to co-inside with the new nicknames). Hightowers fumbling problem is obviously not solved. Wells almost lost a ball even before his late game fumble. This is a little dramatic but I am thinking to make inactive both Wells & Hightower for next weeks game. During the week force them to carry a ball with them and literally beat the crap out of their arms and upper body trying to get them to loose the ball. By "giving them" the week off as inactives you allow time for them to heal up and for the obvious let it sink in that their fumbling is inexcusable. Means we face the Lions and Rams I think we could get away with it. I know LSH fumbled as well but that was his first (that i know of). Wright becomes the starting back. We would need to pick up somebodyoff a PS or as a FA. So it would go Wright, LSH & the new guy. What do you think?

Gandy

Should never play for us ever again. Holy shit he was bad tonight!!!! Not that Bridges came in and did much better, but Gandy has been unbelievably terrible all year. Please Gandy, do us all a favor and stop playing football. Or at least go play for one of our rivals.

Ridiculous

I suppose you’d cut Adrian Peterson as well?

No that would be stupid just like your comment

I didnt say cut anyone. I said SIT or make INACTIVE. Maybe making inactive is too dramatic. Maybe sit them until the second half. Think about it, it drives home a point. Didnt your parents even get so upset with you that they took a dramatic approach to drive home a point or at least a very disciplined approach to correct the problem. Mine sure did and I think I turned out pretty good.

Not if

this is any indication of your so-called thought process. Bench both starting RB’s in favor of two special teamers — who are you going to release to sign your castaway from another team?

The panic fire this site is given to makes the national media seem rational by comparison. The Niner game sucked, no other way to put it, but you don’t revamp your backfield at this point in the season. Wasn’t it just last week when everyone was saying great everybody was?

you are getting too carried away just like most people on the site. stop over reacting and listen for a second

you do NOT revamp your backfield. He merely SIT them to teach them a lesson. Wether it be a full game or a half a game it doesnt matter but something needs to happen. I am obviously not a coach but it is obvious that what ever the staff is currently doing to help Tumble & Fumble isnt working. Maybe it is strictly the players and not the preventative approach. Even if it is, you need to send them a message. IF you had to release somone it could have been Ware to IR and let TH be the emergency kicker. That is obviously no longer an option so you sit them both until the second half, maybe even the second quarter. YOU AT LEAST DO SOMETHING!

Over reacting?

Kind of my point about your idea — our running game is light years ahead of last year, and the one offensive play that was worth watching at all was Beanie’s extra-effort touchdown run. I’m sure the Whiz is spending extra time in practice this week to ensure our ball control issues will be corrected. If we were going to sit guys out based on last week we’d have to sit the entire starting offensive unit — an idea I’m sure you would agree would be completely counter-productive (I’m basing that on most of the posts you’ve put on here, which I usually agree with).

I think we need to step back and remember, as well, that we have second-year and a rookie running back starting for us — this kind of thing is pretty common amongst young players (hence the AP comment earlier). Whiz and Grimm are Pittsburgh guys, it will get corrected, one way or another.

Always good to inject a little humor into disagreements.

Maybe

whiz should institute the old Buddy Ryan push the wheel barrow full of manure up and down the sidelines during the game. Just have it sitting there ready to go next to the bench just waiting for ANY player to screw up.

by Dem_Cardz on Dec 19, 2009 2:30 PM MST up reply actions

That is hilarious.

However, Gandy, Brown, and Lutui would have been pushing that wheel barrow a lot this year.
