Around SBN: Hugh Douglas Admits To Stealing From Jaguars

This was a pretty crazy turn of events. Yesterday it was reported that Henry was thrown out of the back of a truck and was in serious condition. He died this morning. It's always more of a shock to me when an athlete dies. Just wanted to get everyone's thoughts on this. My condolences go out to his family.

R.I.P.

it really is sad that this would happen right when this young man was staying out of trouble and really taking his job seriously. Thoughts and prayers go out to his family

R.I.P.

Henry had turned the corner. He finally got it. What a tragedy. Condolences to the family, the Bengals fan base and the Bengals organization.

Henry and the Bengals

I’ve always payed a bit of attention to the Bengals—I feel like they have more in common with the Cardinals as a franchise than just about any other team in the league, so I think of them as sort of kindred spirits.

I have been rooting for Chris Henry. It seemed like he was finally turning his life around, and that’s the kind of thing you always want to see. I worried about him when he broke his arm. Now this. Just a sad story all around.

Me too

I always checked in with them and considered them similar to the Cardinals. He had a lot of talent and it seemed like he could’ve been a very good WR in the NFL.

What? I didn't break it, I was just testing its durability, and then I placed it in the woods becuase it's made out of wood and I just thought he should be with his family.

Does anyone else think

that his fiancee needs to be charged? I’m sure most of us here have ridden in the back of pickup trucks. Some of the crazies among us, like myself, have probably done up on more than one occasion. That being said, it’s not easy to just fall out of a moving pickup truck…as long as it is moving straight. The report said they had gone at least half of a mile. Someone with the strength and balance of Chris Henry would not have just fallen out unless the driver was swerving. If this was an argument and his fiancee left all in a huff, I’m willing to be she didn’t want him in the bed of the truck and had swerved to get him out. I’m sure she wasn’t planning on this killing him…but that’s not the point. Point is that it was a stupid thing to do and she should not just get overlooked.

I was thinking the same thing SB

The reports says they were in an arguement and she left in the truck but he jumped in when she took off. She would’ve had to swerve to make him fly out. I’m sure we’ll hear more as this goes on.

You also have to consider the fact

That jumping into the back of a moving truck, driving by a woman you apparently just pissed off to a sizable level, might not have been the smartest move. Now I’m not going to clear her of any wrongdoing, and I bet there will be some legal ramifications in the end, but at the very least there was significant fault on both sides. But let’s not make this out to be homicide.

Also consider the situation. Domestic violence dispute, she’s trying to drive away, and he’s hell bent enough on catching her to jump in the back of a fast moving vehicle. We all know Chris was doing much, much better when it came to off-field incidents, but he also has a more than checkered past. She very well might have feared for her life, and this was self defense.

We really can’t say whether it was just an escalated argument in which people made dumb mistakes, or a serious domestic violence dispute in which someone was really threatened (which I seriously hope was not the case, but can’t be overlooked either).

This is what I was going to say.

I am saddened by this no matter what happened. CH was according to those who knew him best, taking an upward turn for once in his troubled life.

I already dropped by Cincy Jungle to offer my condolences to them.

Its terrible that he had to die like that.

The same thing happened to my dad in the 80s. He was lying in the back of a truck on a rubber river raft that wasn’t tied down and the wind blew it off the truck while he was on it and the truck was going 45 miles an hour.

He is lucky that he survived, but he still has some scars and marks from all of the road rash.

My prayers go out to his family, the Bengals, and their fans.

Lifelong Arizona Cardinals/Chicago Bears fan.

No band-wagoner fans allowed, pick a team and stick with em, throughout the good and the bad.

Terrible Tragedy

I agree charges should be investigated at least – something like reckless homicide.

In a bizarre twist – does anyone else think the animated warrior in the Avatar movie bears a striking resemblence to Chris Henry right down to the dreadlocks? I’m not much of a conspiracy theory guy, but its kind of strange he passes the same week the movie comes out.

A few different versions of what happened.

I heard on the news that he jumped in the back and threatened to jump out while it was moving. She didn’t stop so he jumped. Although I have dropped my condolences, he seemed a little crazy. And apparently that type of thing happens a lot. My wife hears those exact stories at the hospital probably twice a month.

Life's too short. Be a fan. Orlando Magic, Arizona Cardinals,Tampa Bay Rays and of course "the U"! What a winning combo.
