I had a nightmare
In my dream I'm watching film of the Cardinal's secondary with Chris Collinsworth and he keeps quizzing me on the coverages, but they won't stop moving around. I'm sweating and need to go to the bathroom. Then my mom brings us pizza and they start dancing... dirty... dancing...
Anyway, I just wanted to congratulate you guys on a game well played and ask about that secondary play. Have you known your defense to disguise their coverages that well all season, or was that something new for this game?
The whole team played great, but that coverage was probably the best I've ever seen a defense put together. Between disguising the coverage before the snap to the aggressive play of the linebackers, corners and safeties covering their responsibilities, obviously I'm really impressed. I'm hoping we can use it to pull our heads together and take things up a notch before the playoffs. Maybe we'll get another shot at you then.

that was the best disguise I have seen them do
Never do card tricks for the group you play poker with.
I think Collingswoth said at one point that the whole disguise thing has been a work in progress all season
I haven’t seen them do the whole “four or five” guys practically standing in a huddle when the ball was snapped before but it seems like we’ve always had some goofy defensive alignment that they’re trying. If anything I think it’s just a spin off of Pittsburgh’s “11 Angry Men” defense. Either way it worked great and I’m sure we’ll continue to use it.
Be careful....to a hammer, everything looks like a nail.
I hope so.
maybe this is what the D needed.
What? I didn't break it, I was just testing its durability, and then I placed it in the woods becuase it's made out of wood and I just thought he should be with his family.
Revenge of the Birds
Is it just me or.....
Does the defense show a different look entirely for the “better” teams we play and a more vanilla "D"against the teams we should beat?
Eli was not a happy camper when we played the Giants due to the constant changes the D threw at them, then that constant shifting seemed to vanish until last night!
Am I seeing this straight? Are we laying in the weeds for the playoffs?
Strange
Interesting Expression
Are we laying in the weeds for the playoffs?
That could be the case. That’s my biggest concern about our team (Vikings) I don’t think the coaching staff really has anything up it’s sleeve when it comes time to play good teams or big games. We have so many good players we can out execute all the average teams running our straight offense and defense. But when a good team comes in with a good gameplan I haven’t seen any ability to adjust, or change to a different look to score some points.
I suppose if we had a different look we should save it for the playoffs at this point, but I’m not confident it’s there.
A good coach makes his team better, he doesn’t wait for a better team to make him look good.
yea ... its all about matchups
and the Cards really took advantage … which is strange, because the Vikes are the best team on paper
But something else to think about is the formula the Cards use to win ballgames … many don’t like it, but because of coach whiz some call the Cards the Pittsburgh of the west … but idk if that’s true and there are many differences.
But I’ll say this, after the very first series of the game after the Vikes scored Whiz made Def changes, and Childress never did (kinda like the Pitt loss) … just bizarre in my book
maybe you guys are right and both coaches don’t want to give anything away

I wonder this all the time, as well
It would definitely align with our inability to claim the should-wins, etc…

Don't want to show all your cards before you get to the real season
Which is the post-season.
We all leave footprints in the sands of time, just watch out for the discarded fish hooks!
Not to mention our abysmal preseason outings
It would be interesting to see how the team would perform in a tougher division. Maybe we’ll find out in the next couple of years.
I doubt it
I think it’s going to be awhile before the Rams and Seahawks are competitive again, and the Niners need a big upgrade at QB before they do any better than 7-8 wins. A bad preseason, record-wise, is fine with me because I’m sure I’m not the only one who remembers our undefeated preseasons under our “winner in town.”
Bring on the real season — looks like we’re getting ready to peak at the right time (again).
Maybe Whiz really is the Whiz
We were all wondering what was going on with Edgerrin James last year only for him to explode in the playoffs.
What? I didn't break it, I was just testing its durability, and then I placed it in the woods becuase it's made out of wood and I just thought he should be with his family.
Revenge of the Birds
Good point strangemale
Never thought about that.

Revenge of the Birds
Maybe he'll turn up on Dancing with the Stars
Though I’m not sure which one he qualifies as — dancer or star…
He'd be perfect because the show's sponsers could plaster a billboard on his forehead...
…it’s big enough.

It reminded me of Baltimore D.
They through crazy looks at Favre, played fast an aggressive, and were always around the ball.
