Julius Peppers to the Cardinals?
Julius Peppers obviously wants out of Carolina and had asked to be traded. We all knew it was a possibility that he could play for the Cardinals but is it actually happening? The report from ESPN is that Peppers requested to be traded to 4 teams only, three being NFC teams and one AFC team. The only team name that was given out was the Dallas Cowboys. Since the Cowboys don't have first round pick, you can pretty much rule them out. Another interesting statement from Peppers was that he wanted to play in a 3-4 defense and wanted to play for a contender. Signs point to the Cardinals as a possibility but then again, it could just be a coincidence.

Rule of Three
Fitz and Dansby are nearly $20 million for ‘09. Add Warner and that’s $30 million. Three for thirty-mil. I think that’s about the extent the Cards will eat up their cap space with pricey players. Peppers has earned his money but I don’t see it coming from the Cardinals despite their profession to running a 3-4 for ‘09. The fact he is interested in Jerry Jones’ Circus Maximus diminishes his value in my mind. But I’m biased that way.

Warner was willing to take a pay cut though wasn't he?
There’s around 45 mil. in cap space right(after Edge is gone that is)? I could seriously see this happening.
Who would win in a fight, Whisenhunt or a Hurricane?
Hold on, hold on, what if the Hurricanes name was Whisenhunt?
Daaaaaaaaaa Cards, Da Cards Da Cards Da Cards Da Cards!!!
Wilson or Peppers
Adrian is in the last year of his contract and will be the likely “tag” next year in a stall move to let Kurt’s two-year deal expire. After that, then what? Going to need a QB if Matty is not an option. Peppers at $10/year with Fitz, Dansby, and Wilson? It’s thinking about numbers like these that gives Graves’ statement that the Cardinals aren’t going to make a big splash in FA some credence.

I guess we'll find out in about 8 days
Hey, hey, hey hey hey, watch the language, ok? I have a family.
Revenge of the Birds
Peppers = name brand = too expensive
You can get the same production out of a cheaper player — although, having the marquee name also has a psychological effect, forcing opposing OCs to specifically gameplan for the guy.

Dockett is fast approaching that level
Dansby is there. Wilson is there. Peppers is truly “eye-candy”. I’ll take three Antonio Smith’s for Peppers’ likely contract.

Dockett -- yes, as of this past season.
Dansby — potentially. Not there yet.
Wilson — Will probably eternally hover below that level, if only due to the stigma of his being a long-serving Cardinal. Not a great coverage safety, either. (Not bad, mind you; just not great)

29 year old guy learning a new position -- I'll pass considering the price tag
He’s a great 4-3 DE but no one knows if can stand up and play OLB. There are plenty of highly athletic guys who can’t make that transition and considering it’ll probably take 8 to 9 million a season to find out, I’ll pass.
So you think backer vs end for Peppers?
He never specified in his interview. He just stated he wanted to play in a 3-4.
Oh man....
that’s gonna make him FURIOUS.
And a furious Julius Peppers is really kinda scary.

On the good side,
I notice that Shefter’s blog now claims that Boldin is open to re-signing with the Cards!
