Arizona Cardinals Sign Long Snapper Mike Leach
According to multiple sources the Arizona Cardinals have signed long snapper Mike Leach (no not the Texas Tech head football coach), formerly of the Denver Broncos. Leach had been with the Broncos for the past 6 1/2 seasons but requested his release after they signed a new snapper this off season. It being reported as a 3 year deal but terms haven't been disclosed yet.
If more details become available we'll pass them along, but the bottom line is that they filled the hole left by the release of Nathan Hodel (who signed with the Patriots yesterday).

All our problems are solved! Bring on the season...
How many Rackers shanks are going to be attributed to Leach this season?
Who would win in a fight, Whisenhunt or a Hurricane?
Hold on, hold on, what if the Hurricanes name was Whisenhunt?

I wonder why they released Hodel in the first place?
I know they said he failed a team physical, but really, how bad could it have been if he was signed so quickly by the Patriots?
Well, I hope this guy is good, Hodel was.

This story from Somers is the only thing I’ve read that even tries to explain it:
I’m told that the release of long snapper Nathan Hodel last week wasn’t just about the $200,000 roster bonus he was due. That was part of it, but coaches apparently had a problem with Hodel’s accuracy and coverage ability. Plus, he was viewed by some in the organization as a negative influence in the locker room. I had not heard that before so I have no examples of that.
UPDATE: Mike Sando of ESPN.com reported that Hodel was released after failing a physical. Hodel has had some knee issues and I heard he had surgery after the season. If I get more information, I’ll pass it along.
A long snapper isn’t the kind of guy that should have an attitude in the club house.

They're just saying that because he was a big Union guy!
He probably spoke out against things when they went against protocol.

He was the NFLPA representative for the Cards, wasn't he?
Never knew his snap accuracy to be bad but he hasn’t done much on kick coverage the past couple of seasons.
We all leave footprints in the sands of time, just watch out for the discarded fish hooks!

I always thought he was one of the best long snappers in the league.
At least that’s what they say. It’s hard to tell.
Hey, hey, hey hey hey, watch the language, ok? I have a family.
