Arizona Cardinals Mock Draft Round Up

The draft is already next month, and that's all we will hear about until then. Now that free agency has died down, it's time to jump into some weekly mock drafts. Most sites update their mock drafts everyday, so you can expect to see these quite often. Our goal is to fry your brain into a soft mush by the time the draft gets here. The first mock draft has the Cardinals taking...who else? A running back. Trust me when I say, most mock drafts have the Cardinals taking one of the following:

LeSean McCoy RB Pittsburgh - "With Edgerrin James almost certain to be shown the door sooner rather than later, the Cardinals will be looking to bring in another back to work alongside Tim Hightower. LeSean McCoy will give them a new threat to work with and stop this franchise from becoming 1-dimensional offensively."

Knowshon Moreno RB Georgia - "Hmmm, Moreno is still on the board and the Cardinals needing a RB to complement their power back Tim Hightower, this pick seems pretty obvious to me.  Imagine all the holes Moreno should see in the pass happy offense in Arizona.  If defenders have to worry about Fitzgerald and Boldin, how do they defend against Moreno?  I don't make the big bucks like defensive coordinators do so I don't have to answer that question. The Cardinals could also take the safe, but not sexy pick, in center Alex Mack."

Beanie Wells RB Ohio State - "The Edge has looked pretty good in the post season but he isn’t getting any younger. I think Beanie Wells is pretty evenly balanced and the 2nd best running back in this 2009 NFL Mock Draft. He will help them run the game and pair up well with Hightower."

Star-divide

Michael Johnson DE/OLB Virginia Tech - "The knock on Michael Johnson is that his production hasn't matched his skill level and that he tends to take plays off. While it's true that Johnson never even cracked the starting lineup until his senior year, he made the most of his final season at Georgia Tech, registering 17.5 TFL and nine sacks."

Alex Mack C California - "Arizona needs a great running back but they also want help on the offensive line. Mack has the skills to fit in right away and give the Cardinals depth and talent up front."

Full Mock Draft:

1st Round - Duke Robinson OG Oklahoma

2nd Round - Javon Ringer RB Michigan State

3rd Round - Will Davis DE Illinois

4th Round - Morgan Trent CB Michigan

5th Round - Dannell Ellerbe ILB Georgia

6th Round - A.Q. Shipley OC Penn State

7th Round - WIll Dunbar S UAB

Larry English, Alphonso Smith, Donald Brown, Max Unger...Intrigued? Here is an interesting tool that shows the top players the Cardinals could draft depending on other mock drafts around the web.

anybody but Micheal Johnson

That guy has ‘workout warrior’ all over him if you ask me. There’s a huge difference between an athlete and a football player and that dude just looks like an athlete.
