Monty back in Kansas City.

Although Beisel wasn't as high on our priority list of re-signees as Clark Haggans, I didn't expect him to defect.  If you didn't know, Monty has signed with the Chiefs, the team that drafted him in the fourth round of the '01 draft.  His departure threatens our depth at LB.  Although he wasn't a starter, he earned quite a bit of playing time throughout the season.  This will definately put a wrinkle on our draft plans this year.  Unless, of course, he was told he wouldn't get much playing time.  But then again everyone knows it is an open competition and the best players will play.  Maybe he saw the writing on the wall.  Victor Hobson was signed to a two year deal last season and everyone is still brimming on the potential of Ali Highsmith.  Maybe he just relishes the opportunity to play with Vrabel again, or maybe he got the same sales pitch as Haggans, "come here and you will get the opportunity to compete for a starting postion."  What ever the reason, I hope I'm not alone in saying, he will be missed, a little.  6'3'' and 244 lbs is hard to miss.  Cardinals East continues to grow.  How does everyone else feel about the departure?
