Why the Arizona Cardinals?
Last year we created this post, inquiring why all the members of Revenge of the Birds were Arizona Cardinals fans. This year, things have changed. With all the added attention we've gained from Yahoo! sports and SI.com, we really gained a lot of valued members. As Hawk said, having a one man tea party isn't fun, so it's really been great with everybody here, participating on the site. It's always interesting to see why certain people are Arizona Cardinal fans. Whether you've suffered through the years, are from Arizona, or you're a bandwagon fan from this past year, we all want to know why. Also let us know how long you've been a Cardinal fan and just exactly why you're so dedicated to your team. So to start, I'll give you my reasoning
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Revenge of the Birds' (ROTB) editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of ROTB's editors.

First of all,
I became an Arizona Cardinal fan because IM FROM ARIZONA. But really, I love this team and all the players. We have one of the most exciting teams to watch and some great personalities. I’ve been a Cardinal fan for the last 7 years and Im very hardcore. Everything in my house is Cardinal related and my car and desk at work is Cardinal-decorated. Im on the site everyday and really cant wait for the 2009 season to start already so we can get back to the Super Bowl and win it this time.
Hey, hey, hey hey hey, watch the language, ok? I have a family.
Revenge of the Birds
Fan because
I have been a fan of the Cards most of my life, only 19. Wasn’t until about 7 years ago when I really started to get into watching sports and take an interest in it other than playing it. Every year of those 7 years I would make a bet with my dad, does not like the Cards because of the Bidwells, that the Cards would have a .500 season or better. Unfortunately I was wrong every year except the last 2 but I still believed they could do it every year. I watch every game from beginning to end even if it was horrible like the Pats game. As Andrew602 stated I can’t wait for the Cards 2009 season to start. The wait is almost as bad is it was waiting to go to the Cards SuperBowl for those 2 weeks. Here’s to a great 2009 season in which the Cards take the Lombardi home!
For approximately 4 years...
I’ve been a die-hard Suns fan, waking up after midnight to watch games, reading everything about them and generally thinking about them all day. I became a Cards fan after the win against Carolina to advance to the NFC Championship game. Everybody was talking about this success, so I decided to start following the team. I watched the game against Philadelphia and the Super Bowl, and really felt in love with the team. I used to call football a “boring” sport (without knowing it’s rules and how exactly it is played though), but now I really enjoy it and I’m looking forward to the next season.
My body might be in Greece, but my mind and my heart is in Arizona. When the heck will I visit the Desert?
Fan
I became a Cardinals fan about 3 or 4 years ago when I was about 13-14. I had always been a Diamondbacks fan and had gotten into basketball because of how good the Suns were doing, so I started paying attention to the Cardinals and have been following them since. The last 2 years I have followed the Cardinals closely watching everything they do and all their games. Getting to go up to Flagstaff for a week and watch them practice and get autographs was one of the funniest things I’ve done. I can’t wait for this upcoming season. GO CARDS!!!
My whole life - 40 years
I was born a Cardinals fan. I am related to Larry Wilson, Hall of Fame Safety for the St. Louis Cardinals in the 60’s. I was given an Cardinals team autographed football the day I was born. I grew up in AZ. (Mesa) When they came to the dessert I thought I had died and gone to heaven. I am a die-hard fan but not a face painter. I have asked my own mother to leave the room because I thought she would jinx the outcome of a Cardinals game. (I also did this for a Suns game) GO CARDS!!!
I love to travel, but hate to arrive.
Good to hear. I feel that I can relate.
Im actually a yeller. Don’t wanna be around me when they’re losing.

NO
Do NOT post links in the Headline. If you do, it’ll only bounce ppl back to the current thread.
Post ’em in the body.

Gotta love the copy and paste from last time
Grew up in NorCal during a time the Niners were shoved down your throat and the Raiders were in LA. There were two responses to the onslaught of Niners coverage. Reject them entirely or embrace them entirely. No middle ground. I rejected them.
When I got down to ASU in 1998 I lived right next door to Sun Devil Stadium on "New Row." I embraced the Cards as a trainwreck you couldn’t help but watch over the next 4 years and have been diehard ever since.

I'm an "older American"(read: mid-50s)
and have been watching/following the Cardinals since the early 60s. As was the case with the baseball Cardinals, I inherited my fandom from my father. And despite my intense disdain for Mr. Bidwill, I have never waivered from my support, despite the ridicule I have been subjected to over the years while living smack dab in the middle of Redskins country.
Why a Cardinal fan?
I became a Cardinals fan back in 1992 when I was stationed out at Luke AFB. I can’t describe how satisfying it was to see the success the Cards had this past season. Last summer, I took my two children to their training camp in Flagstaff (about an 8 hour drive from Long Beach, CA) and caught all kinds of hell from my friends for that (why are going to watch them, why don’t you pick an NFL training camp, etc.). We had a phenomenal time, my kids must have gotten about 35-40 autographs, ranging from the practice squad players up to Warner and Fitzgerald. Great group of guys, I was sincerely happy for them and all the success they had, and am anxiously awaiting the upcoming season.
Good to have you hear Long Beach
Im hoping to attend the training camp this year. Im sure it will be more crowded then usual.

Thank you
Good to be here, it’s a great site. The turn out for last year seemed pretty good, but if there’s even more that’s good, they deserve the support. If you can make it I highly recommend it, we had a great time.
I'm a hometown sports addict
I was a huge ASU Sun Devils fan starting in 94. I didn’t become a Cardinals fan till they drafted Jake “The Snake” Plummer and I have been one ever since. I was made fun of in Prep school because we didn’t have TVs and I would watch the Cardinals ESPN Gamecast. I would watch little lines tick across the screen just to keep up with the team, hahaha. I live in Maryland right now and whenever someone asked who my favorite team was I would hear, “and you admit to that.” Who’s got the last laugh now.

Oh Cardinals!
I have been a fan of the Cards for about 3 or 4 years. Here is my complicated list of reasons. I am a very young NFL enthusiast (20 years old) and I was born in St. Louis and raised in Indianapolis. I was a Rams fan in the late 90s and early 2000’s then I was a Colts fan. I was a Rams fan for Kurt Warner, Marshall Faulk, Isaac Bruce, and Torry Holt. Then Mike Martz came and I can not describe my hatred for that man, he then brought in my least favorite player Marc Bulger so I quit the Rams and moved to the Colts. The Colts are great and I have a great deal of respect for them even now. Peyton Manning, Dallas Clark, Reggie Wayne, and more recently Mike Hart, still peak my interest in the Colts, but I have always loved Edgerrin James and Kurt Warner, so when James went to the Cards my interest peaked there and I fell in love (a very manly love) with Larry Fitzgerald and his great heart and even better hands. Then Kurt Warner came and tat solidified my forever love for this great team.
I hate the new "protect the QB" rules, but its ok because it's still legal to chip the QB's fingernail polish, but if you tear his skirt it's a 10 yard penalty & an automatic 1st Down.
It's crazy that most Cardinal fans couldn't stand Warner
And is chronic fumbling problems. These past 2 years have been great though and he’s a great guy. Now I’m a huge Warner fan.
