Former Steelers = New Arizona Cardinals.....Larry Foote Edition
Ok so we all know that Ken Whisenhunt stands outside the Steelers facility offering jobs to anyone walking out with a pink slip so you've got to expect the Cardinals to at least kick the tires on this guy. It's been rumored that the Pittsburgh Steelers are cutting their starting inside linebacker Larry Foote. So who is Larry Foote?
via blog.mlive.com
- A soon to be 29 year old LB who hasn't missed a game since his rookie year in 2002.
- A guy who's averaged 81 tackles and nearly three sacks per season as a starter.
- A guy who had a very manageable contract $13.43 million over five seasons
Bottom line is that Foote's not an elite player by any means but he could be solid veteran presence on this defense and he's got a mountain of experience in the 3-4. He'd provide instant competiion for Gerald Hayes and could serve as an insurance policy in case either Hayes or Dansby gets hurt this year or if Dansby leaves. This guy could be the best former Steeler that Whiz brought in. Thoughts????

I agree...
But I did just picture you in a pink cowboy hat, chaps and boots.

That goes against the Cardinals' mantra of signing intelligent football players

Meh
He is from Detroit and wants to finish at home. If I was a player I could see the attraction of playing for the Raiders or 49ers to finish up close to my family.

Wouldn't
mind adding some depth behind Hayes and Dansby. Would also give Highsmith a little more time to develop.

Love to have Foote but he wants to play in Detroit and he wouldn’t want to play back-up. I’d love to pick up Hill in Seattle but don’t see that happening either. I don’t think the Cards cut the players with any particularly FA as a target.

The Hill thing is definitely
not happening because we are about 6.7 mil under the cap this year. From what Whiz has done in his 3 offseasons here it doesn’t seem that he likes to go after blue chip free agents so even if we had the cap space I doubt he would go after him, something he learned for Cower in Pit.

Leroy Hill or Larry Foote
Foote and Hayes in the middle, Dansby and Okeafor outside with Haggans and the rookies as backups!
Or we could shift dansby back inside with Hayes, and put leroy hill on the outside opposite of Okeafor….
either scenario would be great! I hope they sign one of these guys.

Whiz stands outside the Sixburgh facilities.
Thats because he knows where the talent is and it doesn’t come from trades.
It comes from thedraft. That is the Steeler Style.
How about trading foote for Russ Grimm? Our OL hasn’t been the same.

Do you stand outside "Sixburhg Facilities" and hope to be one of the lucky groupies chosen...
To be taken back to one of the player’s houses so they can have their way with you?
Who would win in a fight, Whisenhunt or a Hurricane?
Hold on, hold on, what if the Hurricanes name was Whisenhunt?
Daaaaaaaaaa Cards, Da Cards Da Cards Da Cards Da Cards!!!

How did you make the jump from trades to being a groupie. I’m guessing your the groupie and was wishing to be with the real men in sixsburgh.
