Chat with ESPN's Mike Sando
HornerJD50, Virginia: Alex Mack is available at pick #31, and both Moreno and Wells are gone, do you see the Cardinals picking Mack or Unger and letting the need for a RB slide into round 2??Mike Sando: Ken Whisenhunt has said he thinks Lyle Sendlein can become a very good center. That surprised me some, but you have to figure the Cardinals know offensive linemen pretty well. Either that or they have too much faith in Russ Grimm to work miracles. Or they are possibly blowing smoke before the draft. I do not get that vibe in this case, though.

Hmmm.... What I have been saying the whole time...
Sendlein has the best feet on the line and just needs to bulk up a bit and develope a little more which I hope he has been doing this offseason.
Who would win in a fight, Whisenhunt or a Hurricane?
Hold on, hold on, what if the Hurricanes name was Whisenhunt?
Daaaaaaaaaa Cards, Da Cards Da Cards Da Cards Da Cards!!!

Agreed
Now that guys like Sendlein, Hightower, Brown, etc., have the experience of playing in the Super Bowl the regular season games will slow down considerably for them. Combine that with another season of having Russ Grimm as his coach and I think Sendlein could be this year’s Steve Breaston.

Lyle is underrated
I think he did a great job last year and completely agree with boogatt66. He will be better next year.
We need a running back and another playmaker in the front 7 of the defense!

only IF...
he can bulk up,… which he hasnt since he arrived. If he is bulked up by the draft then maybe take Wood in the 2nd round and let them duke it out.
Never do card tricks for the group you play poker with.

I like Mack
A lot actually. That being said, I would much rather go with McCoy or Brown in Round 1 and then pick up Unger or Wood in the 2nd. One of those two should be available. I like Wood but I think Unger is the better pick as he would give AZ depth at G as well.

Completely agree...
… But here’s a question, if Wells, McCoy, and Brown are available at 31, which do you pick. Not Whiz, but just a personal choice.
I know everyone is Wells first. But I’m saying there needs to be a better look at Brown.

Well...
….I am a Big East fan so I watched UConn and Pitt a lot this year. That’s why I like Wood as well. I am kind of torn between McCoy and Brown (my opinion is Wells and Moreno will be gone.) I think Brown will be better as a complete back and is an excellent blocker. If Whiz is looking at a tandem system then I like McCoy. McCoy has great hands out of the backfield and is the more elusive runner. Between those two I don’t think you can pick a loser. If forced to choose, then I would go McCoy.

Oh and if Wells is there...
…my ranking doesn’t change:
1) McCoy
2) Brown
3) Wells – he’s perpetually injured, so if you take that into account how do you feel when (not if) he goes down the Cards are going to run out the oh-so-imposing tandem of Wright and Tim.
When I get sad, I stop being sad and be awesome again.

He IS always injured.
Kinda reminds me of another injury riddled college star RB. What’s his name again? Oh yeah. Adrian Peterson. He had major questions about his durability coming out of college, but I guess those strength and conditioning coaches in the league did some nice work with him. By the way, who is the best strength and conditioning coach in the league? Well our very own John Lott of course, Silly. Hey, I’m just saying. These guys won’t be in class 4 hours a day, studying 5 hours a day, practicing 3 hours a day and lifting 2 hours a day anymore. They will be lifting and conditioning 5-6 hours a day and practicing 4-5 hours a day. Their bodies will grow. Now with all that said, I still don’t know who I would pick.

I'm not saying Wells is horrible
but I’d rather invest guaranteed $$ into something that doesn’t have that history. AP broke his collarbone and hurt his LCL. I think he’s a great back but I am not just looking at 2009-10 or even 2010-11. I want someone who I can feel confident in year-in and year-out.
You really think they were in class 4 hours a day and studying 5 hours a day? Now that’s silly.

Sorry. "Someone" not "something."
Although they are entities.

Didn't know for sure so just made up times.
We all know they had someone else do their work and take their tests.

This was a great discussion hevchv and Red Reign.
After reading up more on Wells and looking at a few different mocks on nfl.com I’d take the following:
1) Wells
2) McCoy – McCoy looks great, but his reception ability is what makes me rank him above Brown
3) Brown – You can’t miss with either Brown or McCoy
Also, I am definitely behind picking a RB in the first round no matter if Mack or Pettigew are available at our spot.
