Calvin Pace Gets Supended for Four Games
The NFL has suspended Jets linebacker Calvin Pace for four games without pay for violating the league’s policy on performance-enhancing substances.
Pace will miss New York’s first four games of the season and will be eligible to return for the Jets’ Monday night game at Miami on Oct. 12.
In a statement issued by the team Thursday, Pace said the suspension is a result of taking an over-the-counter dietary supplement that he was unaware violated the NFL’s policy.
Pace, in his second season with the Jets, is eligible to participate in preseason practices and games.

Is this excuse ever going to get old? Pace has millions of millions of dollars and it would take a fraction of his weekly paycheck to find out if his ‘supplements’ had any banned substances in them. Don’t teams have doctors or trainers or someone who can look at a label and make sure that his pills are clean?
Any professional athlete that uses the “over-the-counter” excuse is one of two things to me: (1) an obvious cheater or (2) too stupid to do his due diligence about what he puts in his body. Either way I put 100% of the blame on the player.

Yeah, what a BS excuse.
Aside from the year-round education which includes providing the players with a complete list of banned substances and the random testing programs, the NFL has a hotline for players to call if they have any questions about whether a supplement is banned or ingredients in a supplement are banned. The NFLPA, on its website, also has a supplement hotline as well as a hotline to EAS which is the only company authorized by the NFL to make supplements that are wholly approved by the NFL.
