Rod Hood Cut by the Browns....Cardinals Interested?
Our old buddy Rod Hood got his walking papers from the Browns today and I've got to wonder if he's on the Cardinals radar. Ralph Brown hasn't exactly tore it up this preseason and Greg Toler looks about like we expected (talented but not ready to play). Hood would undoubtedly be an upgrade at nickel corner and I'd feel much about him starting a game or two if DRC or McFadden went down. Thoughts?

What's the league minimum for
a 6th year guy? It might be a good investment if he will play for it.

Ralph Brown
I have become frustrated with DBs who think tackleing is falling down at the runner’s feet and Ralph Brown has become the poster child. Hood would be an upgrade at the min price.

Get him and get him quick!
He is a very solid nickel corner and already knows the system. He is a veteran with solid awareness. If we keep 5 corners on the roster (I think we keep 4 on the active because of Rolles versatility….) then we cut Fontenot ASAP and depth goes DRC / McFadden, Hood, Brown, Toler, and stick Adams on the PS. If we keep 4 then would we risk Toler on the PS? (this is if we were to sign Hood).

NFC West
I just hope no one in the NFC West signs him.

I am curious though,
If the Browns cut him, why would we take him?

We know him
We saw what he could do over 2 years time and know what he brings to the table. Maybe their 3rd corner is better than our 3rd corner. Salary cap ramifications. Rough pre-season. Bottom line is he is better than brown, toler, adams, fonty. If we can get him on the cheap I say get him

+1......pretty much nailed it
And I’d add he simply might not have picked up their system fast enough.

I've never been high on Ralph Brown..
If he’s willing to come back in a way that involves a lighter salary than im 100% for that, he exceeded expectations while here in AZ and I’m surprised there isn’t more of a demand for him.

Not sure
I never was a big fan of hood. Every time a pass would come his direction, instead of turning his head and trying to make a play on the ball, he would wait for the reciever to catch it and try to knock it out of his hands (which rarely worked). I guess if they could get him for really cheap he would be an upgrade over brown. Also he would be a nickel cb and wouldn’t be a starter like last year so it wouldn’t be so bad
