Rumor: Are the Cardinals trading Leinart and Boldin to Denver and Kansas City?
*Article written by Sayre Bedinger of Bleacher Report*
WR's Boldin, Marshall on the Move? Three Team Deal Possibly in the Works"Do not get offended Brandon Marshall.
Rumor has it via Scout.com's Kansas City Chiefs and Arizona Cardinals affiliates that star wide receivers Anquan Boldin and Brandon Marshall could be on the move via a three-way trade between the Chiefs, Cardinals, and Broncos.
I was notified by fellow Broncos writer Randy Garcia that the proposed trade would be roughly as follows:
Cardinals Get
- WR Brandon Marshall
Chiefs Get
- WR Anquan Boldin
Broncos Get
- QB Matt Leinart
Okay, so this proposed deal does not make very much sense up front. It seems as though the Broncos are getting a pretty raw deal considering they have been rumored to be holding out for a first and fourth round pick in exchange for Marshall. Not to mention, this deal has the Chiefs giving up absolutely nothing.
A more fair deal would look as such:
Cardinals Get
- WR Brandon Marshall
- QB Tyler Thigpen
- Chiefs' 5th round pick
Chiefs Get
- WR Anquan Boldin
Broncos Get
- QB Matt Leinart
- Chiefs' 1st round pick
This seems like a pretty balanced return for all parties involved. The Cardinals get Boldin off their hands, and Brandon Marshall gets a fresh start. Arizona would also maintain the top WR duo in the NFL this way.
The Chiefs and head coach Todd Haley could put together a stellar wide receiver duo with Boldin and Dwayne Bowe, and get rid of Thigpen, a guy who has been on the market for a while.
The Broncos rid of Marshall and his antics, while getting a quarterback of the future and a likely early-mid first round pick.
The only thing holding this type of trade back is Marshall. The Cardinals have to be willing not only to deal Boldin, but to be ready to give Marshall a long term contract at the end of this season, which is why I view this deal as somewhat unlikely.
Only time will tell, but a deal will need to be done soon, if at all."
Am I the only one who feels like this rumor is bull? Boldin is angry about his contract, but he will suck it up and play until he gets his raise. And after all the time we spent grooming Leinart why would we want to trade him? Could Whiz actually think that Brian St. Pierre or Thigpen would be able to be the backup for Kurt Warnerr if he goes down?
This seems fake to me, does anyone here think that this could actually be true?
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Revenge of the Birds' (ROTB) editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of ROTB's editors.

two words NO WAY!!!
Give me one good reason why would the cardinals agree to do this??? Boldin has closed his mouth and is playing. Why trade him for Marshall?!? Plus Lienart has looked like a stud in preseason this year, why would we let him go.
NO WAY!!!!!

Down grade at QB plus downgrade (considering recent actions) at WR for a 5th rounder next year
NO WAY!!!! (saying it once was not enough).

Sorry I keep replying to myself
I still don’t see this, but maybe if the picks are reversed – Cards get somebodies 1st round and Marshall and thigpen for Boldin and Leinart – Even that is not enough. DEnver does have a tion of picks next year, but I just don’t see why the cards would agree to this. How about cards get two first round picks plus Marshall and Thigpen for Leinart and Boldin? Now I start considering it at least.

haha very good
it is annoying though when part-timers start expressing theories like this as though they’re in the pipeline…

This better not happen.
First off all we are trading away one of the hardest and most respected players in the league with Q.
Second of all we are getting rid of Leinart, the guy that is supposed to replace Warner and has actually looked really good.
All for a QB that had one good year that we don’t even know if he’ll fit in our system, a WR that has become the biggest diva in the NFL, and a 5th round draft pick. I don’t think so, not to mention the fact that KC just lost Cassel for a couple weeks and will need a backup just in case Croyle goes down.
Joe, kudos to you on finding this. I definitely agree that this isn’t true.

God no!
Why trade away the guy who will be next years starter at QB at some point, and the classiest WR in the NFL, for a QB with a worse record and stats as a starter, and the WR who while talented, has become a T.O. clone?

Just plain comical
First of all, Bleacher Report is a site that is designed very much like ROTB. It’s basically a blog written by fans, not NFL insiders or members of the media with intimate access to the teams or players. Throwing out trade rumors like this is just plain unethical, especially when they’re trying to present them as something actually in the works.
Second, look at the terms of the trade. Would Arizona ever, ever trade Matt Leinart and Anquan Boldin for such a mish-mash pile of crap.
- You’re basically trading Boldin for Marshall and you’re getting another disgruntled WR who you’ll have to pay big money to in order for them to stay happy and Marshall is a complete liability off the field.
- Then you’re trading Leinart for Tyler freakin’ Thigpen and fifth round pick? WTF? Who in the right mind would even dream up something like that.
Take this as a complete joke because that’s what it is.

Great trade if you are NOT Arizona!
Both options listed for trade are way out of perspective. Boldin needs atleast a 2nd round pick AND a top 25 WR. Leinart, even at a backup, needs either a 2nd and 3rd round pick or a starter. Some starters such as Houston’s QB… who?… exactly aren’t worth a Leinart trade. Here’s a trade:
Boldin and Leinart for WR Marshall, a 2nd round pick, and a 1st round pick. Even then that is being gracious.

what a joke
this trade makes no sense. The Cards would need MUCH more compensation for giving up #81 and #7.
This rumor is retarded

Hey guys Chiefz fan stoping through to say HI.
Seeing as we have no Rivalries to get in the way of good communication’s, I just had to join your blog.
You guys have done a lot for us so thanks for the head coach. I just wanted to say I too think the chiefs would be getting a cheap deal by how it has been explained. But a first round Draft pick to denver? you don’t give that to Division Rivals. Marshall is only worth a 3rd since you would have to pay him so much, and same with Boldin.
i honestly think this entire deal is bogus, but we will see.
Good Luck and Stay Healthy.

Welcome to ROTB (even though you're a Chiefs fan)
Yea it’s a comical trade idea that I wouldn’t buy for a second. Just Bleacher Report doing their best PFT impersonation.

It is a website where HardHat is a "community leader"
So I don’t buy into much of what they say either.

I'm starting a new rumor
Since apparently anyone can say anything and somewhere someone will pick it up as credible, I thought I would start a new rumor and see where it goes. (by the way, 3 way trades in the NFL about take an act of congress to pull off)
How’s this sound.
Denver: Gets Boldin
KC: Gets BSP and Marshall
Arizona: Gets Denver’s 1st Round, Thigpen and KC’s 3rd round.

now that's much more likely if in fact these three teams are even talking

LOL NO
This is retarded. I prefer the Marshall-to-Pack trade rumors, or the Giants-Browns-Denver menage-a-trade rumors.

The last idea wont work. Brocos gave thier 1st pick to the Seahawks.
How about this
Boldin to the Raiders(Really dont want to see the guy go at all, awesome to the fans at trining camp)
Jamarcus Russel to San Diego
LT to the Chiefs and then Thigpen to the Cards
Makes about as much sense as the first rumor
by warchild132 on Sep 2, 2009 4:57 PM MDT reply actions 0 recs
Here's one
Tom Brady to the Cardinals, Kurt Warner to the Chiefs, Chiefs 1st round pick to the patriots, Todd Haley to the Raiders, Namdi Asomaguwagalow to the Vikings, and Chester Taylor to the Dolphins, Ronnie Brown to the Bengals, Chris Henry straight to jail don’t collect $200…………
OK that’s enough

There
is also some sites on the internet that say the Titans are going after Boldin. I don’t like the trade talk as it stands because I wouldn’t like Marshall and Thigpen to come to Arizona. Maybe after all is said and done Boldin does get traded but it is unlikely at this point.
