Fine and/or Suspension Looming for Adrian Wilson
We should learn today whether or not Adrian Wilson be fined and/or suspended for his hit on Vernon Davis. The NFL warned him last season that because of his history, his next infraction would cost him $50K and a game. Wilson did try to lead with his shoulder instead of his head but he did end up very close the head of Davis and it was very much in the realm of a defenseless receiver.

Such a stupid rule.
I know they are just trying to protect players but come on.

You know I don’t think any real football fans like the way that the NFL is going with all of the rules but I don’t particularly like A-dub’s comments about the situation either. He talks about not letting these rules change the way he plays and that it’s just “what it is.” At some point don’t you just accept that you have to play within the rules for the sake of not hurting your team? I’m sure the Cards would much rather have Vernon Davis make that catch instead of having A-dub being suspended for the second game of the year.
It doesn’t matter whether you like or agree with the rule A-dub, just learn the thing and play in way that won’t get you suspended.
Be careful....to a hammer, everything looks like a nail.

That story doesn't say everything that Wilson said.
Darren Urban has a similar story but has more of what Wilson said here.
From what he said in there it sounds like he is genuinely confused as to what he is supposed to do in those situations. The one thing that was interesting from Darren was
His choices are to let the player catch it or not. In the end, if the other team is going to get 15 yards anyway, maybe letting them catch it is worth it.
I don’t know which is better either. If he catches it than there is a chance that the player breaks a tackle and gets big yardage and if he does hit than there is a possible penalty.
Quite a dilema the NFL has created here as I have heard multiple announcers and analysts on this situation say they don’t even know what the players are supposed to do with these new rules. The Refs don’t even seem to know…

Its turning into Flag Football...
I’m all for keeping the players safe, but there rule changes are making the game too soft. You can’t do anything now without getting a penalty.
