Why didn't we rest Rackers for the rest of the season?
I know that everyone is mad at Neil Rackers for his performance over the Playoffs, but am I the only one who noticed that he was still injured? It looked like he should not have been playing, he looked uncomfortable, and I could tell the injury is still affecting him. Rackers should have been rested, or he should have gone on the IR, and we should have kept Mike Nugent for the playoffs. It was a mistake to bring Rackers back before he was ready to play, thats all I have to say.

The playoffs has been filled with reliable guys shanking to the left...
Just look at Nate Kaeding. He missed three in one game, which is the total he’d missed all year.
But, yeah, Rackers should have been allowed to continue to heal. They should have kept Nugent on.

I couldn't believe it when I saw him miss the 3rd kick.
From what I’ve seen, he sucks in the Playoffs for some reason.

it's a tough thing to gauge though
I’m sure Rackers didn’t want to end his free agent year on the IR and I’d imagine he thought he was healthy enough to finish the year strong. If he comes to the coaching staff and says “I’m good to go” and looks decent enough in practice, who are they to not believe him?
Be careful....to a hammer, everything looks like a nail.
Not to make excuses for Rackers
But I have to think he wasn’t 100%. How often do you see an NFL kicker, in a dome, leave a 50 yard FG try short?

Yeah but what was up with the miss against the Packers?
that was a chip shot.
What? I didn't break it, I was just testing its durability, and then I placed it in the woods becuase it's made out of wood and I just thought he should be with his family.
Revenge of the Birds
Rackers has never been that great with those pressure kicks.
If you look back to Whiz’s first year when the offense wasn’t as dangerous as it is now and required more end of the game field goals by Rackers, he missed a majority of them.
First one was against Baltimore, could have sent the game into overtime but instead his kick solidified a loss 26-23.
Next game was against Washington in which he missed a field goal to loss the game 21-19.
Than he missed a field goal that would have won against San Fran but made it so we went of overtime in which we lost because of a fumble by Warner 37-31.
There is also proof of this in seasons before too, like the dreaded 2006 Chicago game.
Rackers has been a pretty accurate kicker but when it comes down to those final seconds he has not been all that good.
+1 I remember making that same argument in the preseason
I love Rackers when we just need points, but I bite my nails when we need him for the win.

Not really stressing
How many kickers are really that good? A hand full?
I am glad he was good during the season. Best field goal %.
I know playoffs is usually what makes or breaks a guy, but if he was actually injured he has an excuse. If he wasn’t and lied, well we will see how he does next year.
I think our kickers are damn good and all of this is a non-issue.
They are who we thought they were!

Look on azcentral or azcardinals.com
A lot of people there think he should be gone right now.

He fluffed a50 yarder!!! Twice!!!!!!!!!
Definitely was injured. He usually cranks those. Plus his next kickoff he tried to hard and pulled left again. Keep him, he has been productive.
