Cardinals Not Optimistic For Boldin, Campbell Undergoes Surgery
Adam Schefter reports that the Cardinals are not optimistic that Boldin will play this Sunday against the Packers in the wild card round of the playoffs. Boldin injured his ankle in the Cardinals 33-7 loss this past weekend. Anquan originally stated that he was ok, and that he would play this week. We know that he's certainly capable of playing through injury, but he's nowhere near as effective as when he's at 100%. From Schefter:
Cardinals not optimistic Anquan Boldin will play Sunday - ankle injury. But if anyone has a chance, it's Boldin. He's as tough as they come.
Calais Campbell suffered a fractured thumb in the loss and was a bit more questionable on the injury report. He underwent surgery Monday as Darren Urban reports.
Defensive end Calais Campbell had a surgical procedure done on his fractured left thumb, KTVK (Ch. 3) reported, and had video of Campbell in a sling and cast. Campbell told Ch. 3’s Brad Cesmat he still had a chance to play this week but nothing is certain; coach Ken Whisenhunt said earlier in the day he hoped Campbell could play with a cast.
If neither is able to go, it was be a huge blow to the offense and defense and the Cardinals would be considerably short-handed on Sunday.

weird
b/c late on ESPN I heard a conflicting report that Boldin should be able to play.
clearly we would miss these main cogs

Am I the only one who thinks Campbell might be a bigger loss than Q?
At least we’re stacked, depth wise, at receiver but if Campbell misses the game then either Iwebema, who has missed time lately with a concussion, or Branch would start in his place. Needless to say it would be quite a dropoff in production, Campbell is after all tied for the team lead in sacks.
Be careful....to a hammer, everything looks like a nail.
Get a cast on CC and get him "happy" on meds before the game...
Calais’ absence would be huge. Can we borrow Antonio Smith back for the post-season, Houston?
Don't waste time or Time will waste you.
+1
What? I didn't break it, I was just testing its durability, and then I placed it in the woods becuase it's made out of wood and I just thought he should be with his family.
Revenge of the Birds
Wouldn't that be cool if it was like hockey, in that one aspect?
I’m not the most active NHL watcher, but I always love when people trade star players for the post season for draft picks for the next year. I think that’s awesome.
Imagine getting a pass rusher, a star WR, and a star CB for the post season right now. For say a 3rd, 5th and 6th next year. Something like that. I know it wouldn’t really work because of how precious draft picks are in the NFL, but having some type of system would be neat, but would totally change the dynamic of the game.
Section 102, Row 18
that's one thing I don't like about the NHL
You should go to the playoffs with the horse you rode in on…
beat me to it
I just logged in to make this point. I think the defense could adjust if DRC is less than 100%, but losing Campbell is worse in my opinion.
maybe all of this is just an even bigger part of Whiz's master plan to make GB overlook us

I agree
Doucet is coming on. Simmer down nah, I didn’t say he was as valuable as Boldin just yet, but I will say he is in the same mold and gaining confidence.
Branch has played well in spurts but he is no CC

Shefter about Q
is nothing more than him trying to make a headline. I listened to Coach Whiz’ press conference and interview with Wolf….He didn’t mention not being optimistic. In fact he said Q’s knee was fine but he would get an MRI at the same time as his MRI on the ankle. He was sore.(that’s always the case the day after a twisted ankle). There was no mention of swelling. (you can’t do an accurate MRI with swelling—they would wait till later in the week). That alone makes me optimistic that Q will play. I just hope he’s able to play at the top of his game.

![ESPN's Teddy Bruschi was going over some people he thought would be breakout players, and for the Defense he went with our own Calais Campbell.
With Dockett taking up double teams, and Dan Williams hopefully opening up some holes for everyone else, I think that Campbell could lead the team in sacks this year [he would of last year if some QBs didn't get out of his grip when he could have sacked them].](http://cdn3.sbnation.com/fan_shot_images/131937/437520550_t220_small.jpg)
