Hope and Worry

Last year someone started a weekly thread of a similar idea. I believe it was plusses and minuses or pros and cons but basically it was a chance for everyone to give their ups and downs for the game.

I'll keep mine short as I am more interested in what other people saw.

For me

Max Hall looked like he could be our answer at QB. He showed poise, made some great throws and did well considering the pressure NO was bringing. He made some big mistakes but got lucky. As Hadarius said in another post, if he had had Breaston and Doucet to throw too it could have been a big game for him.

Some will disagree with me here but I was actually pleased with the run game (well...). I know, statistically we sucked, but against 8 and 9 man fronts we kept pounding the ball and kept NO honest. Basically I was very pleased we stuck with the run and didn't abandon it.

Our defense had it's best game of the season. I knew Rhodes was going to be a factor, but Lenon too? Toler looked great, D. Wash looked solid and Adams despite the late TD also had a good game. On the defensive side there really isn't much to critique.

Lastly our special teams unit looks to be one of the best in football. Hyphen is a stud and Adams also made some good plays on special teams today too. Once Andre develops a bit more we are going to a very scary unit.

Max Hall got as lucky as a rookie could get. Threw a pick, put the ball on the turf twice and almost threw a second pick if not for a very heads up play by Fitz. If any QB we have ever had as had the "swagtangibles" it's this kid but he is not going to get so lucky every week. His accuracy was excellent and there is a lot to build off.

I said I was pleased with the run game, or better said, our dedication to it but I was pretty disappointed with our play calling. Pounding the rock with Beanie is something I am all for, but not into a wall. I agree with some other posters, we needed some more play call diversity.

I am also worried about consistency. We played well this week, but what about next game at Seattle? Which D will show? Dr. Jackal or Mr. Hyde?

Gut check. We have played very poorly and have played pretty poorly but won and than we played lucky enough to win. I am still awaiting a dominate win.
