Rapid Reaction to the Worst Loss of the Season

First and foremost, there isn't much that can be said about this game that the boxscore won't reveal in about 20 seconds. This was about as thorough a beating as I've seen in a while, especially from two teams who entered the game with identical records. The Cardinals were outplayed, out classed, out hustled, out coached and several other cliches that I'm too tired to throw down right now. If I were a betting man I'd even say this team threw in the towel and assumed the fetal position long before the final whistle. Basically I don't think this team showed up to play and I don't think they even half-assed it very long. With all that being said, here's some random scatter-shooting from tonight's observations:

  • I'll lead with the biggest bomb of all, I'm starting to wonder if Whiz is losing this team. A six game losing streak wears on any team but I really wonder if this team looks at thier QB situation and wonders if they'd be better of with "He who will not be named." I have no idea if Matty L.... I mean "He who will not be named" could have done any better but I damn sure know that he couldn't have been worse than our current starting signal caller. I wonder every time a errant throws sails above or behind or in front of a reciever if guys don't just hang their head and wonder......what if......I know I sure do. Sometimes the evil you know is better than the evil you don't.
  • I also wonder if that same mindset hasn't creaped into the defense. At some point watching your offense wet the bed three straight plays then punt has got to wear on the physche of every player on that field. It really makes me wonder when I see guys who we know have immense talent (DRC and A-Dub come to mind) who simply aren't living up to their resume's.
  • My second big bomb, is what is this team's identity? I sure can't tell you. We're clearly not a running team and we've got a terrible QB. What do we enter each and every game knowing we can do well? I have no idea and I don't think anyone on that sideline does either. This team was built around throwing the ball and now possibly our worst offensive player is the most important.

Ok so I just realized I haven't written much of anything actually concerning tonight's game but what's there to say, we got slaughtered. Basically wrapping all this up with it's time to cut bait with anyone and everyone who can't help this team in the future. This season is dead and gone and it's time to play for the future. That means playing rookies at QB, Dan Williams, Daryl Washington and every other youngster who is being held back by an aging veteran who is playing marginally better. It pains me to throw in the towel but the time has come.
