Around SBN: Stan Van Gundy Fired As Head Coach Of The Magic

Looks like it is finally over, 297 games in a row (not counting the Playoffs) and the greatest consecutive games started streak in sports is over. I'm even hearing that he might just go on the Injured Reserve this week too.

Even though the guy can be really annoying at times, the streak is really impressive, and it is a shame it had to end like this. He should have just retired after last season ended. Go out in a positive way like Warner did...

Before all the "will he retire or not" crap started a couple years ago

He was very easy to like. Fun to watch too.

The NFL won’t be the same without the waffling little ol Gunslinger

I can't stand fair-weather/bandwagon fans, stick with your team(s), throughout the good and the bad. And don't switch to whichever team wins the Super Bowl each year.

It's a good thing that he came back

Because now KW has one less QB to face for first round HoF honors.

Just to add the justification: Favre will have to wait one additional year to be Hall eligible. (It’s five years from your final playing year).

I'll be very interested to see how the HoF treats KW

He might have solidified himself as a first ballot guy in his last couple of years but I don’t think it’s a no brainer.

You can hate him all you want

But you have to admit: Brett Favre is tough, and he changed football.

I was hoping he’d get to 300, though. But whatever. He’ still made his impact on the NFL, and he’ll go down in the record books for sure. At least he got to win a Superbowl while he was at it.

Did anyone see the picture of his hand?

It was purple. Pretty sure your hand is not supposed to blend in with a Vikings jersey.

Amazing streak - congrats

Time to call it quits (unless maybe he wants to try a year in cardinal red?!?!)
