Boldin for Wilfork?

What do you think of Boldin for Wilfork? With Warner retired, the Cards will go to a run heavy offense. We have good young receivers and need all the help we can get on defense. With the giant Wilfork in the middle next to Dockett and Campbell we would have a great D line.

I would most likely ask for a later draft pick in addition to Wilfork and pick up some youth in the line-backing core. It is a must to get more pressure on the QB. We will have to grind out games now, no more shoot outs. What do you all think?

I'd rather have Mayo

Plus, wasn’t Wilfork franchised?

What? I didn't break it, I was just testing its durability, and then I placed it in the woods becuase it's made out of wood and I just thought he should be with his family.

the defensive line is already good enough.

the cardinals noseguards with watson and robinson are pretty good! The defensive line as a unit is a team strength and is one of the better units in the league. there are few teams that can push these guys around. that being said, I’d also rather have mayo, although he struggles taking on blockers.

The D line is good,

what we need to shore up is our LB and secondary.

Wilfork is an unrestricted free agent I believe.

The Patriots will either franchise him or work out a long term contract. They could also just let him go but don’t count on it. Either way no trade. Sending Boldin to the AFC for a defensive player would be a good plan. Adalius Thomas is not real happy in New England. I think the Pats may have piles of draft picks stocked too.

NT is a need

But I’m more interested in draft picks…

Compensatory Draft Picks

With losing our starting DE to Houston last year, what would our compensatory draft pick look like, if we even get one?

Life's too short. Be a fan. Orlando Magic, Arizona Cardinals,Tampa Bay Rays and of course "the U"! What a winning combo.

Urban mentions a link

over on Cardinals site that breaks down the compensatory draft pick situation.

by hadrarius on Feb 3, 2010 10:48 PM MST up reply actions

Astute

Urban’s summary of that site he linked suggests we won’t get any this year. He was comparing FB Smith with HB Wright and concluded they should cancel out. Not sure about any others!

Watson is inconsistent and Robinson is 35

I’d love to have Wilfork, but my gut tells me Whisenhunt would rather draft the talent

watson is just fine!

the job of a noseguard is to occupy two blockers and provide push up the middle. this is clearly watsons strength. this would be a lateral move if the cardinals get woolfork.

by lifelongcardfan on Feb 2, 2010 1:25 PM MST up reply actions

Respectfully disagree

with that. Wilfork would be a major upgrade over Watson, but I agree with the idea of drafting a NT to the scenario that would bring Wilfork here. I like to see us draft someone like Tennessee NT Dan Williams or North Carolina NT Cam Thomas instead.

+1

This is probably the best deal we could get for Q right now.

If we could get Johnson,

I think it would be a steal. That kid has a lot of promise.

hoping...

for a 2nd and 3rd too…anything less and we might as well let him play his contract out one more year…

Boldin for Dumerville

I’d rather have Dumerville in there but the Broncos don’t need a WR like Boldin. They will use a TE and then their speed receivers like Royal and Marshall (whom won’t leave). The Broncos want to win NOW and can’t afford to let a caliber of player like Marshall go. Even if they get Boldin. Also people forget that Roy Williams (a lesser player than Boldin) was traded last year for a 1st and a 5th (I think) so that is the starting point. We can’t give up a better player for less. Makes no sense economically or talent wise.
