New York Giants release middle linebacker Antonio Pierce
I realize he's a 4-3 middle linebacker in a cover 2 system, but our linebacking core is the weakest part of this team. He is a playmaker and it's much easier to switch from 4-3 to 3-4 as a middle linebacker rather than an outside linebacker. What do you guys think?

Interesting, but
I don’t think so. The switch is a little more difficult, since in a 3-4 he’d be required to take on a lot more blocks than he does in a 4-3. Combine that with the D-line he’s used to playing behind in N.Y., his neck injury, and his playing weight of 235-240, and this transition could be hell on him.
