"Justin Medlock 9, B.C. Lyons 0"
The off-season has barely begun and we've already tread on the Rackers question. Who will be our starting PK in 2010? Here's a guy who won't:

I'm not a guy who really gets excited for kickers, but that video was definitely worth two minutes of my life. The Medlock story was one I happened to glance at over on the ESPN blogs, and it got me thinking. Assuming this guy comes in and takes the starting job in Washington, that would put Graham Gano on the streets -- a young player who had a good season in the UFL after losing the starting PK job in Baltimore to Steven Hauschka, then came in and took the job from Suisham. He's 22 and, though he hasn't spent much time in the NFL, still managed to accrue a decent amount of experience this year. He'd be cheap, has a pretty strong leg (5 in a row of 50+ yards his senior year in college), can kick in the clutch (scored the winning FG in the UFL championship) and appears to have upside as far as kickers go.
Other notables potentially hitting the market:
Nick Folk, Shayne Graham, Jeff Reed, Stephen Gostkowski
I very much hope we don't end up with Jeff Reed. Enough with the Steelers left-overs! Of the others, Rackers is definitely better than Gostkowski but I'm not sure how he shakes up against Folk or Graham. Both of these guys have had some problems, but have set fairly high standards in the past. It might be interesting if we successfully recycle another Bengals kicker...
Whether or not you're sold on re-signing Rackers, here's an important question that has been thus far overlooked: is there anyone out there that interests you more?
