The Cardinals are reportedly not "wedded" to unrestricted free agent K Neil Rackers.
The team does have interest in re-signing Rackers, but they're expected to keep their options open if he wants too much money. Though Rackers has enjoyed solid percentages in Arizona, he's had issues in the clutch.

This
sounds like they will get a new kicker if one is available that can make those important field goals. Rackers hasn’t been bad but has left the Cardinals behind too many times when he was needed.

I think people know my views on Rackers
Im not going to be ecstatic about him leaving, because it creates another problem. However, it could mean one less game lost next season.

so what do we do? Sign Nugent?
What? I didn't break it, I was just testing its durability, and then I placed it in the woods becuase it's made out of wood and I just thought he should be with his family.
Revenge of the Birds
If
it was between them I would take Rackers. But maybe they will draft a K in later rounds or UDFA. The team doesn’t have tremendous needs in the draft and they could eventuallly use a new K.
"team doesn't have tremendous needs in the draft..."
I can’t agree with that. Our defense has some major issues that were only partially masked by Warner’s performance on the other side. In principle, I would say the draft is always tremendously important, even if your roster is packed to the brim with talent.
A K in the later rounds still isn’t out of the question. I wouldn’t want Nugent to replace Rackers either.
Absolutely NOT
Nugent can’t kick the ball beyond the 10 yard line during kickoffs. He gives opponents the ability to start between the 30-40 yard line on every possessionthat’s not including any kind of decent return, either.
There has to be a better kicker out there. If not, then we are shooting ourselves in the foot.
I know Rackers missed some clutch kicks
But we still should try and keep him. He has a strong leg, excellent pouch and onside kicks and is really accurate (at least not when the game is on the line).
They are who we thought they were!

I just hope he's not being dumb and asking for rediculous money
After that miss in the playoffs he has no leeway

Rackers was injured when he came back
I’m not going to blame him for his struggles when the team screwed up by bringing him back. I hope he can stay.
Lifelong Arizona Cardinals/Chicago Bears fan.
I can't stand band-wagoner fans, stick with your team, throughout the good and the bad.
we should go look for a kicker
in the australian football league. i bet ben graham knows someone good.

Depends on the pay. Rackers has been good, but his lack of clinch ability keeps him from great
I’ve loved the mortars and onsides, but when the nerves hit him it’s better to go for a fake.
Section 102, Row 18
Honestly kicking a damn ball isn't that hard
Just get an ex-soccer player with a boot and sign him. If he’s an athlete he’s used to high pressure situations. Moving on to the next problem..
