New Orleans Saints Win The Big One, 31-17

Congratulations to the New Orleans Saints for winning Super Bowl 44. They did something the Cardinals weren't able to do last year, which was knocking off the favorites to win the game. I'll assume that the game wasn't as stressful for the fans as the last two years have been, especially when Tracy Porter picked off one of Peyton Manning's passes in the fourth quarter and returned the ball 74-yards to put the final nail in the coffin. Click on the image for a full set of pictures from the Super Bowl. The Saints did it, and now they're the Super Bowl champs.

It was a good game, that I didn't think they were going to win

But not nearly as good as the last two Super Bowls.

I have to give it to the Saints though, they owned the second half and played good coverage and began to really pressure Manning. I’m glad they won it all in the end, it sort of takes the last tastes of defeat away from the Cards losing to the eventual Super Bowl winners.

I was just waiting for Francisco to screw up something to cost the Colts the game, but instead it ended up being the league MVP throwing a route that was jumped and returned to end the game. It seemed like it wasn’t Peyton’s fault they lost, it was the receivers, how many times did a receiver drop a perfectly thrown ball?

Oh well, fun stuff, now bring on the draft talk!

That was part of the reason I was rooting for the Saints, because Francisco is on the Colts. It might be mean to want a guy to lose because of him falling down but I am still having a hard time letting that one play go.

Amen

Agree the WRs struggled on both ends

What? I didn't break it, I was just testing its durability, and then I placed it in the woods becuase it's made out of wood and I just thought he should be with his family.

I agree, it wasn't as good as the last two games were.

But I still enjoyed it. And losing to the team that winds up winning it all makes the Playoff loss hurt a little bit less since we lost to the best team in the NFL. No shame in that.

It was great to see a team that has struggled for so long give New Orleans something to celebrate about.

Lifelong Arizona Cardinals/Chicago Bears fan.

I can't stand band-wagoner fans, stick with your team, throughout the good and the bad.

QB protection

What jumped out at me was the generally outstanding protection both QBs had for most of the game. Though the Cardinals Oline improved over the last couple of years, there is little resemblance to the Olines on display last night. I wish Warner had the luxery of operating with that kind of protection.

I noticed that

There weren’t many sacks in the game. The only one I can think of is the Freeny sack.

What? I didn't break it, I was just testing its durability, and then I placed it in the woods becuase it's made out of wood and I just thought he should be with his family.

Was a very good game.

Scoring was pretty consistent and there was not too many flags. Plus, now the Cards could say they lost to the best team (not fun saying they lost but at least it took the best team to do it).

On a side note… Man does that Sean Payton have some balls. I can’t believe he did that fake kickoff. Glad it worked out for him.

Definitely could have been the game

If it wasn’t recovered… The way Manning was moving the ball against the Saints at that point

They are who we thought they were!

Gutsy call.

Payton made the game interesting. After that start to the half it had to leave you wondering what else might you see.

It was gutsy

We may be seeing more of those types of play calls as the NFL wears on. I seem to remember the Packers have success with that kick against us in the wild card round.
