Everyone says the same thing about Leinart, that he needs a good tight end to dump down the ball. If the Cardinals go out and draft a TE right away to “help” Matt, other teams are going to think the same thing:

“hey, we can easily defend Leinart by taking the TE out of the equation.”

I just don’t think we should be focusing on that. If we draft a TE because he’s the BPA or because he’s an amazing blocking TE that can help our run game, I think that’s fine. But honestly, we’ve never been a big team passing to our tight end and I think it would be a waste to draft one for that purpose. If we are going to pass to a tight end more, I think we’ve got some guys who can still catch the ball.

Cards were apparently checking out this guy at the combine. Not a blocking tight end at all. Seems more like an over sized receiver. Watched a highlight reel of his and don’t think I saw him lined up next to a tackle once.
