Why hasn't this Happened yet?

I was wondering if anyone knows why we haven't signed Porter or Foote yet? This should have happened yesterday!!!!!They came into take a look and show what they got, now it's like they disappeared. Are we trying to crunch some numbers so the contracts make sense or what? Somebody knows something, but aren't sayin it. If we let these two go, I will surely be disappointed! We need the experience and the leadership. Come on Cardinals, let's get these two deals done and prep for the draft.

From what we've seen so far the Cardinals aren't going to offer any FA's contracts the day they visit

Hadnot got his contract two days after he came, so I’d imagine either Porter or Foote may be signed by today or over the weekend.

What? I didn't break it, I was just testing its durability, and then I placed it in the woods becuase it's made out of wood and I just thought he should be with his family.

Their interest is encouraging.

It’s just nitpicking the contract details that is holding things up. These guys want the best deal they can get. In the end I bet they are both Cardinals.

Andrew & Hadrarius,

Thanks, I was feeling like the only one who had their mind on these contracts. I guess I was the only one to break. I guess thats why I don’t play poker. Thanks gentlemen, once we get these two contracts done. Who do you think we should go after next? I heard Delhome, please not that guy!!!!

by Arnold Casillas on Mar 12, 2010 1:27 PM MST reply actions

No that won't be happening. The Cardinals have shown zero interest in Delhomme

Derek Anderson is visiting today and if he isn’t signed, the Cardinals have shown interest in Chargers QB Charlie Whitehurst and vet Charlie Batch.

Other then QB, I’d expect a smaller free agents to make appearances. Possibly at OLB, DE, and OL. The Cardinals will be in need of a another WR but I see that happening in the draft.

I have a gut feeling

they will push for Anderson. Whitehurst is intriguing to me in that I don’t think the Cards would be giving a 3rd round pick for him. There has been suggestion of “alternate compensation” from either the Cards or Seahawks (who don’t have a 3rd rnd pick this year). I think they may have a move up their sleeve for this guy if they can’t get someone like Anderson for whom they would give up nothing.

They need to get the deal done with Ware too.

If they get Porter, Foote and Ware signed, then secure a QB I think they’ll look pretty good going into the draft. It would have been nice to do more than damage control in free agency but so long as they shore up and don’t have to reach for needs I’m comfortable. Glad they brought in a veteran OL in Rex Hadnot. I can’t see them starting a rookie OL which so many mock drafters seem to believe is the case.

Not thrilled with DA

He could prove me wrong but I’m not excited about him. I think he is their first choice at QB, like it or not.

Who else is there?

Unless you want to have Rhodes or one of the receivers that knows how to throw as the 3rd stringer there isn’t much else in the pile to dig through.

noodle arm?

Ya I didn’t see that one working…If we get a vet it will be someone that has skills that opposse the one ML brings to the table…something different.

Whizenhut wants to keep it cheep…i can see us getting foote, but porter maybe not…i dont see ’ the Wizard’ cutting a big contract for porter (33) when the priority is getting younger and faster. putting depth on the offense is a first …. i expect a QB to be signed before a linebacker…. we still have stevie baggs ( hopefully converts well) and anticipated cody brown. heres my order … QB,T, LB,CB

D first. LB first.

They are who we thought they were!

Yeah

i think Defense is first for us, 90 points is insane and they did nothing against the saints.
but after a LB, then QB.

by MarcusJC on Mar 13, 2010 1:34 PM MST up reply actions

Yes, possibly defense in the 1st two rounds

We've yet to see what other teams have interest

Porter may not get the kind of offers he would like. In that case I think he lands in the desert.

by hadrarius on Mar 13, 2010 3:38 PM MST up reply actions

I doubt it

Not that I blame them, but players very seldom take a lower offer to go to a specific team. I do think if the offers are close between us and somebody he doesn’t feel is a match we could get a slight discount from him, but anything significant I think goes to the highest bidder.

I check my phone for updates

HOURLY! My girlfriend laughed at me yesterday when I picked up the phone and saw an NFL update….only to be disappointed again! In a store full of people I actually yelled at my phone, “WOULD YOU MAKE IT HAPPEN AND EASE MY NERVES ALREADY DAMMIT!”..hahaha…

We’ll probably hear some more tomorrow.

I’m guessing, out of respect, AZ gave both of them the weekend to ponder their options/figure out contract details.

by Chg91 on Mar 14, 2010 8:10 PM MDT reply actions

Apparently Foote has a foot injury.

From 2009 and it may be the reason why he wasn’t pursued that hard by the Cards.

They are who we thought they were!
