Delhomme signs with Cleveland
Adding a veteran QB just got a little more dicey. And with Cleveland choosing Delhomme as their probable starter(he had said he would only be a backup on a contender) what does this say about Derek Anderson? I know the contract was part of it, but Holmgren was brought to Cleveland to field a winner, not cut salary, so I gotta feel even he feels Delhomme is the better player. And as bad as Delhomme was last year, did you get a look at DA's numbers? In fact, if you look at his whole career, besides from the quick start in 2007, this guys numbers have been JeMarcus Russell like.
At this point, it looks like we will be making a run at Charlie Whitehurst, and IF we get him it's gonna cost us a draft pick. And his experience is that of a rookie QB, so we probably then wouldn't draft a QB. This could also open the door to Brian St.Pierre coming back.
Unless, of course, we are gonna just sit back and wait to see what happens with Bulger.

I think this says
more about Cleveland than it does about Anderson. While I understand that neither he nor Quinn stepped and consistently played as a #1, I cannot see the reasoning for replacing them with Delhomme and Wallace.
I still think a change of scenery will greatly benefit Anderson.
I would normally agree but...
This is a Holmgren decision. If Holmgren thinks Delhomme is the better player at this stage, I would tend to believe him.
Jake will probably have another bad year if he winds up being the starter.

Difference is
Cleveland is looking for a starter, we’re looking for a backup. Anderson was definitely not starting material in Cleveland, but I think he would make a good number 2 in our system. Give him some time with Larry and Breaston and I think he could do ok.

But his numbers...
are just so bad.
44% comp.
42.1 QB rating
3 TD’s 10 INT’s
4.9 YPA
These numbers make JeMarcus Russell look like an all-pro.
And Quinn, no world beater himself had significantly better numbers with the same personnel. And one more thing to consider. Anderson probably won’t be cheap. I’ve seen that he is looking for between 5.5-6.5 mil per. I don’t know. I just don’t see it. At this point I’d almost rather wait to see what the Rams do with Bulger.
That is around the same thing JaMarcus had.

Whitehurst highlights
The only I could find on nfl.com. http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-game-highlights/09000d5d80163280/1-58-C-Whitehurst-left-end-for-14-yards-TOUCHDOWN
Highlights from Clemson, for what it’s worth. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UdlemnigJ-s
The mystery of the attraction of a 3rd string QB with almost no nfl game experience has me very curious.
Well he had some nice long throws in there
Looks like he’s not afraid to run the ball either. Obviously Whiz see’s something in him to make an offer. He looks like he’d be a step up from St Pierre.
And now Cleveland sent Quinn to the Broncos
Barely gave up anything for a former first round pick.

The Browns are clearly cleaning house
They sent former 1st round pick Wimbly to the Raiders. I like what Holmgren is doing. The Browns need change all around and maybe this will help. Although they did catch fire late last season.
What? I didn't break it, I was just testing its durability, and then I placed it in the woods becuase it's made out of wood and I just thought he should be with his family.
Revenge of the Birds
With their 12 (and counting) draft picks coming up...
The Quinn move wasn’t very good economically (a former first-rounder for a 7th), but Holmgren must have wanted him gone before Brady’s play destroyed any value left.
