Coach Whisenhunt on Leinart: He has earned #1

Coach Ken Whisenhunt announced that Matt Leinart has earned the right to be the Starting QB, according to azcardinals.com, the team's website.  It was made clear to Derek Anderson, the recently signed QB, that he was #2.  Derek Anderson himself said, direct quote, “It was (told) to me I was going to be the number two and come in and compete.  Every training camp I have been involved in (I’m) thinking I am going to play and get better.  Obviously, my job will be to push Matt and make him better.”

In these last few weeks, many have talked about coach Whisenhunt's dislike of making Matt Leinart the starting QB for the Cardinals.  Those rumors were obviously untrue.  But the questions remains.  Will Matt Leinart live up to his expectations, or will he become the next big flop?

Of Course Matt is no. 1. He's physically gifted and has been in the system for years.

he sat behind a friggin legend for years watchin history being written.

I personally had a lot of negative feelings towards Matt for quite some time. I thought he was immature and undisciplined. He looked hungover the whole season up until his collar bone was broken. But ever since then he has seemed to take his job more seriously and I have high hopes for him this season. I’ve believe Kurt and Ken have taught him what it takes to be a winner in this league. I think he will surprise a lot of people in 2010.

As for D.A. I think he can be very successful here and return to or even go beyond the level he played at in 2007. Overall I’m really pleased we signed this guy and didn’t pay out the ass for Charlie “never thrown a pass in the NFL” Whitehurst.

Even though we have lost some great players I’m more excited than ever to be a cardinals fan. The organization has shown great patience and wisdom this offseason and I believe they are continuing to build a winner that will stand the test of time.

Why do the idots at the NFL Network HATE Matt Leinart, I was watching NFL All Asskiss last night, and of course they did the story on DA signing, and of course they started compairing the 2 QBs and the when DUMBASS Jamie Dukes goes on this tangent about how Matt Leinart wants to be a celebrity before being a QB, How the fuck do you know that? Is he not in So Cal working with TB12 again this year, working on footwork and conditioning, that sounds like the glamor life to me. Then Rod Woodson says that DA will “get his shot at some point in the season and not give it up”, he did a great job holding Brady Quinn off last year. I am happy they signed DA, seasoned vet, with a big if not less that accurate arm, and it did not cost AZ a pick. But can we stop makeing him out to be something that he is not he. Mattie Kegstand is going to grab this job by the fucking balls and run with it.

I gotta say...

I couldn’t agree more with the comments regarding NFL network and ESPN. Why the hell they would think that the job is wide open, particularly off DA’s recent work is beyond me. It amazes me that these guys get paid to do what they do because they make no effort to actually look into what is actually going on. I sometimes think they just read the fans boards on ESPN and make their reports from that. I couldn’t help but scream expletetives at Adam ‘Schlepter’ when he was giving his report. Jamie Dukes, Bucky Boy, Rod Woodson(who I am really surprised at) I think are just lazy when it comes to doing their job.
This is Leinart’s job, and I don’t even think it is ML’s job to lose. My prediction is that the only time DA sees the light of day this year is in a blowout or becuase of injury. I posted over at FanPosts a breakdown of ML’s preseason record if anyone is interested.

Say ML does great

but DA also has a great preseason. Trade bait?

They are who we thought they were!

Idk

I just want to see what happens, Leinart haven’t proved that he earned it,but i do have faith in him, and it seems like DA fits our offense. That Titans game was good for Leinart, but i didn’t like what happen when he took over against GB.

C'mon

A meaningless game where GB was going all out? Look at the TN game. He spent the week leading up to the game splitting the snaps with KW because no one was sure who was going to play. Now that might not be a big deal for the regular starter but for a guy who hadn’t started a game in over 2 years, those snaps mean something.
So there was some rust and it showed in the beginning of the game as ML started out 3-9-27 yds. But by the middle of the 2nd quarter he began to hit his stride and finished the game 18-22-193 yds. To me, how he played in that game is a much better barometer on what to expect.

Found this out last night and though I'd share

I have a buddy of mine who works at a sports training complex in Tempe. Says since the offseason practically began Matty boy has been in there literally every day working his ass off. Good sign of things to come I hope.
