Revenge Of The Birds Community Mock Draft: 8th Pick, Oakland Raiders
With the eighth pick of the Revenge of the Birds community mock draft, the Oakland Raiders select...
Trent Williams | Offensive Tackle | Oklahoma
GM: CardsDefense
Strengths: At 6'5, 315 pounds, Trent Williams is a mauler along the offensive line. He dominates one on one blocks and can turn a defender whichever way he likes. Williams absorbs most defenders and bends his knees and hips very well will in pass protection. Williams has a good burst off the snap and latches onto defenders quickly. He will move down field and will engage with linebackers or defensive backs. There's no quit in Williams and he is a complete team player.
Weaknesses: Williams is quick but doesn't have elite foot speed. He'll sometimes move backwards rather then move laterally. He'll sometimes overextend plays and allows linebackers to make a play on the ball. He can struggle against quicker defensive ends and needs to improve his footwork.
Why the Raiders will draft him: Getting Williams would be the safest pick at #8 for the Raiders. Maryland's Bruce Campbell may be tempting for owner Al Davis because of his speed, but Williams has the ability to step in on day one and start at tackle for the Raiders, while Campbell may need more time to develop. The Raiders will also need better protection for JaMarcus Russell - assuming he's the starter next season.
Thank you to CardsDefense for making the pick and that move puts pcock45 on the clock with the Buffalo Bills pick. Please email me at revengeofthebirds@gmail.com sometime today. Also wanted to remind everyone to not only include a pick, but please include strengths, weaknesses, and why your team will make the pick as well. Can not beleive Raiders take Williams – makes to much sense – more likely Taylor Mayes or Dez Bryant.
Williams ran a really fast 40 for an O-lineman. The raiders have 3 young high draft pick safeties. (Tyvon Branch runs really fast and plays the same position as Mays.) Dez Bryant runs too slow.
I think Tom Cable convinces undead Al to take Trent Williams to give Jemarcus Russel a better chance to succeed.

Of course it does not make much sense for the Raiders to take Mayes or Bryant – hence that is why the Raiders will take one of them or someone like them. The Raiders live in the rabbit hole – they are stuck in a 60’s time warp with the Jefferson Airplane and Nancy Pelsoi.

Right under my nose
I was planning on Williams being there for the Bills to pick. I like it for the Raiders as well. I just submitted my pick for tomorrow.

![Former #1 overall Draft Pick JaMarcus Russell has been released by the Raiders. If this is the end of his NFL career, where does he go on the all time draft bust list [I got him close to Ryan Leaf], and can he succeed if another team gives him a chance?](http://cdn0.sbnation.com/fan_shot_images/117201/jamarcus2_small.png)
