The Cardinals are currently in negotiations with safety Matt Ware for a new contract. With the loss of Antrel Rolle, re-signing Ware is pivotal for the defense at this point. Ware had 22 tackles, 2 INT, and 1 FF before hitting the injured reserve in 2009.

Big unknown

unless you were an avid fan or on the defense but he played a big part this year and i truely hope he gets resigned

He may end up being very important this year. I obviously want rolle back, but at what price? I really like ware over rashad johnson at this point, but I don’t know if I want to go into the season with him as the starter.

Who knows, if we lose Rolle we may not even be able to pick up a free agent, like fs’s clark or sharper, for any less money than it would take to resign Rolle.

Rolle and Sharper

The only reason why these two guys were released or let go to free agency is because their respective teams believe they could sign them as free agents for less money than if they either continued their current contract (Rolle) or franchise tagged them (Sharper). Rolle will be our top priority free agent but if someone offers him more money, which I’m not sure many teams will be willing to do he just isn’t consistent enough in… anything really, then he’ll be gone but I wouldn’t be surprised to see Sharper and Rolle back on their original teams.

Ware

Ware is a pivotal part of the defense and our early games were much better than our later games without Ware. I would really like to see us stronger in our defense with a good rush ILB and OLB, Wilson can only do so much. It would be nice to pickup D. Sharper because Rolle kept getting burned with the deep ball.. McFadden too. I have high hopes for G. Toler this next coming season and hopefully we pickup some good picks for the D-line.

What? I didn't break it, I was just testing its durability, and then I placed it in the woods becuase it's made out of wood and I just thought he should be with his family.

I see him starting at OLB

for us before FS.

So we take a safety with the 1st pick?

Can’t see that happening even if Rolle leaves. Whiz has trust in Rashad Johnson even if we don’t.

I wouldnt exactly say Whiz has trust in him either, this coming from Whiz...

"To say we were disappointed (in Rashad), that’s tough to say," Whisenhunt said. "Would we have liked for him to play better and more consistent? Yes. He has to understand in his second year the sense of urgency that if he doesn’t do that, then there are going to be issues. He’s still a work in progress."

Too early to say

It’s too early to say he’s a bust. He obviously didn’t step in and make a huge impact, but he was a rookie. Now that he has a year under his belt and a full off-season of training, I expect to see him make a positive impact. If not, then I agree, there will be issues.

I expect the Cardinals to make signing Rolle a top priority. I don’t see many teams coming after him aggressively. At least, not aggressively enough that the Cardinals won’t match the offer. I expect to see him back next season.

As for Matt Ware, we all saw the impace he had on the defense once he went down with injury. I’d love to see him back to provide is with some talented depth.
