UPDATE! Ravens Trade 3rd and 4th for Boldin and 5th

It was just reported on ESPN that the Cardinals are trading Boldin and a 5th to the Ravens for a 3rd and a 4th. Sounds like a pretty good deal to me. The Ravens already signed Boldin to a 4 year, $28 million deal. I'll miss him, but it gives us a good chance to do something in FA and to make some big noise in the draft. What's does everybody else think?

This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Revenge of the Birds' (ROTB) editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of ROTB's editors.

RAVENS!

The night is darkest right before the dawn

UPDATE

Apparently the Pats are out of it. It looks like it’s either the Ravens or the Cheifs. To me I think it’s the Raven’s to lose.

I'd guess

the second round pick will be the deciding factor.

If this comes to pass, I’ll find it far more disappointing than whatever happens with Dansby or Rolle.

BACK TO THE BOTTOM?????...HOPE NOT

DANSBY,WARNER, BOLDIN, ROLLE ,BERRY, ETC…..LETS GET GOING PLEASE..WE HAVE HAD SELLOUTS AND 3 HOME PLAYOFF GAMES,THE MONEY IS THERE!!!!!!SIGN SOMEONE…THE DRAFT IS FOR REBUILDING TEAMS!!!

Not as bad as it appears

While I’m still processing the idea of seeing Q in a Ravens jersey, I see all this as a step forward, not backwards. What I think this will do is speed up the conversion to a very Steeler looking team going forward. The draft picks, if used properly (and this group has done very well at that) will fill some gaping holes that existed before any of this occurred.

Remember that Dansby and Rolle aren’t gone yet, so let’s see how it all plays out before we play into the 49’er cries of how they’ve become the new favorites in the NFC West.

thanks for posting alaskancard i left work and this happened.

What? I didn't break it, I was just testing its durability, and then I placed it in the woods becuase it's made out of wood and I just thought he should be with his family.

agreed

I was thinking the other day about how difficult it would be to get the different players that would help fill some the holes we have, as it seems like there’s more needs than draft picks. Getting an extra 3rd and 4th has addressed those concerns.

Wow, are you a tool.

If the Cardinals didn’t trade Boldin he would have walked after the season anyway. They would have nothing from that deal. Clap yourself on the back if he makes it through to the playoffs pal.

Lay of the Kool Aid.

We’re a WR factory. You can’t buy one. We’ll rebound. Who got hosed here? His style of play with your cold weather doesn’t bode well for Q. At $7mil per year you are looking at about $600k+ per game with the 3-4 he will miss every year. Thanks for the extra pick Bitches!!!

Life's too short. Be a fan. Orlando Magic, Arizona Cardinals,Tampa Bay Rays and of course "the U"! What a winning combo.

by hevchv on Mar 5, 2010 8:08 PM MST up reply actions

You would have won it all last year if you had Q?

Correct me if I’m wrong, but Q missed the ENTIRE PLAYOFFS!!! why? oh, that’s right, injured again. He has missed games from injury in nearly every season. When he goes down with an injury in Baltimore, please come back here and taunt the Cardinals some more my friend.

by SundayBlitz on Mar 5, 2010 9:16 PM MST up reply actions

yea ok dude

You’re a WR factory for the rest of the NFL. You’re like a minor league farm for other teams, because that’s what you’re going to be after you got rid of 3 star players. Keep that talent coming. The rest of the league appreciates it.

by Purple Koolaid on Mar 6, 2010 8:41 AM MST up reply actions

Any time douchebag.

You may need a few more since he might not make it through half the season. You got any positions that could help other teams. No. Your best players are over the hill. You guys thought about bringing someone to replace them soon. Oh I see. Just lurking the halls looking for our scraps. Have fun. Good luck next season. I actually mean it too. Just cause you’re an ASS doesn’t mean I should stop liking the Ravens.

Hilarious

Hadrarius you’re hilarious. I’m gonna start calling you all Steelers south. Nice sour grapes there dude. Q is a great receiver. That’s a player the Cards should have kept. That’s my point. You don’t let him walk. You pay da man! Do they think Breaston will be able to hold his jockstrap? This reminds me of when the Raiders got rid of Randy Moss. He goes to the Pats and makes them look like jackasses. That’s what Q will do to the Cards. No disrespect to the fans, but I think your head coach and front office are a bunch of idiots. During the Superbowl year, Fitz was a nowhere to be found on the field when Q was hurt. Sure there are questions about his durability, but in Baltimore he won’t have to play that hard. We’re a run first pass later team. Q will make our running game even more effective.

Good luck to you all!

by Purple Koolaid on Mar 5, 2010 8:20 PM MST reply actions

Check your stats bud.

Fitz was all over the ball in 08. It’s not sour grapes on my part. The guy was gone. Whatever bad blood there was between him and the team had nothing to do with me. I’d rather Boldin did stay but that wasn’t going to happen and it has been clear for 2 years that he wouldn’t be signing an extention with the Cardinals. There is zero shock factor in his trade.

When Boldin is healthy he’s great. Sadly he hasn’t been able to play a complete season for two straight years and had earlier injury problems as well. He’s going to keep getting torn up. Playing in the NFC north isn’t going to do him any favors health wise.

If you are going to come onto ROTB and talk trash expect to get some back. I didn’t object to the premise of your post. It was your attitude I took issue with.

by hadrarius on Mar 5, 2010 8:46 PM MST up reply actions

This guy is smoking something.

Didn’t the Cardinals go 7-2 without Boldin when he was injured? And who was it that was filling in for him? Boldin is a great player and we’re bummed to lose him, but we have the guy to replace him, if not two of them. Cardinals weren’t expected to get even a 3rd for Boldin and Ravens coughed up 3rd and 4th. This was something the Cardinals had to do. Our defense is only going to benefit through FA and the draft because of this and our offense will be just fine. Our front office knew what they were doing with this one. Do you know what you’re getting? Did you ever think Boldin might have been so great because there was someone else on the other side giving the defense Fitz? When Boldin goes down with an injury your “WR Corp” with take a dive and it will be the same old Ravens who can’t throw the ball to save their lives.

Oh and he turns 30 next year.

With Leinart as QB this move was a good move.
Whiz an idiot? Sure… I guess he is for taking us to the Superbowl and getting us into the playoffs twice for the first time in our history?
We all love Q here and there is no doubt about that. Toughest WR in the league hands down. I hope he flourishes for the Ravens, really do. I want to see the man do well. But his departure was best for the team. And I am not offended being related to the Steelers. Most Superbowl wins in history? Yes please, I’ll take that.
So huh, anything intelligent to say?

They are who we thought they were!

by Jessesb on Mar 6, 2010 5:03 AM MST up reply actions

oh please!

Leinart is a bust. As Dennis Green said, he is who we thought he was. He is a soft primadonna, total bust. I really liked what the Cards were doing the past couple of years. But how do you gut a team that is consistently progressing by losing Q, Dansby and Rolle.? Those are arguably your best 3 players.

Finally, I don’t know why you all got your panties in a bunch about my post. I didn’t offend any fans. I just noted it was a bad move for the Cards, as much as everyone tries to convince themselves it was good. It’s not like the guy wasn’t producing. You basically gave him away for a third and swapped your 4th with the Ravens 5th. (small price)

by Purple Koolaid on Mar 6, 2010 8:38 AM MST up reply actions

Love the trash talk

Even though replying to this guy is like beating up a kid with down’s syndrome! Good luck getting a full season out of Q. He’ll be a great receiver, until he breaks his face again or tweaks his ankle.
Oh and btw, Leinart is not a bust, yet. He got beat by a future HOF quarterback. Warner would have made Flacco look terrible too.
Oh and let’s talk Flacco, this retard can’t hit the broad side of a barn. All he has is a big arm to throw it down the sidelines and hope his receivers can bring it down. With that being the case you grabbed the wrong receiver. Fitz stretches the field deep, Boldin goes over the middle. Since your qb can’t throw over the middle cause he just rockets it too far or too fast Boldin is just gonna get clobbered by a linebacker and this time he probably will die on the field.
Don’t be pissed because we’re building our franchise after the most successful one in the NFL, the one that except for last year continuously crushes your teams hopes of getting to a Super Bowl. Even if you get past them, good luck with Peyton.
I’ve always liked the Ravens, just goes to show there’s stupid fans for every team out there.

And to call Whisenhunt an idiot?

That would be like calling John Harbaugh an idiot. Anyone who watches football knows these are two extremely good coaches. For Whisenhunt to take the worst franchise in the NFL and get them to the playoffs 2 out of 3 years with a Super Bowl appearance? Come on man. Pay da man? Bart Scott ring a bell? Why didn’t you pay da man then? Oh wait, cause Ellerbe is some sensational star right? Hahaha what a moron!
