Hat tip to AlaskanCard for posting this first. The Ravens are close to finalizing a trade for Cardinals' wide receiver Anquan Boldin.
Update #2:
"The Ravens are reportedly mulling the idea of offering Arizona a late-round pick in addition to a third-rounder in exchange for Anquan Boldin.
Baltimore is also going over Boldin's medical history, which the Cardinals released to teams around the league. According to Ravens beat writer Aaron Wilson, Baltimore's proposal may involved a third-round pick in 2010 and a "sixth or seventh" in 2011. Wilson adds that "Nothing (is) done yet."
"SI.com's Peter King reports that the Ravens are "close" to finalizing a trade for Anquan Boldin.
Kansas City -- Baltimore's main rival in the Boldin sweepstakes -- is working with more second-day (second- and third-round) picks, but also has way more holes to fill. The Ravens were always Boldin's most likely landing spot. His run-blocking prowess would fit right in with their smash-mouth style, and Boldin is enough of a play-maker to fill the team's No. 1 receiver void."

If this happens...
Happy Trails.
Thanks for all you did for us.
And until recently, you were always my favorite Card (no matter how much I HATE FSU).
Life's too short. Be a fan. Orlando Magic, Arizona Cardinals,Tampa Bay Rays and of course "the U"! What a winning combo.
well lets hope
that Boobs is ready for the #2 slot. Let’s go Boobs!
Sooo ready for the season to start! Go Angels!
From ESPN's Adam Schefter's twitter:
Done deal: Arizona trades WR Anquan Boldin and a 2010 fifth-round pick to Baltimore for Ravens 2010 third- and fourth-round picks.
I like it....
Would have preferred a 2nd and 6th or something, but two middle round picks is a good deal. I trust that Graves and Whiz got the best deal they could.
When I get sad, I stop being sad and be awesome again. True story.

I didn't want to give up any picks...
but it would be an improvement.

Also from Schefter:
“Well, that didn’t take long: Anquan Boldin agrees to a new four-year, $28 million contract with the Ravens.”
just read about the 5
well…. i am going to miss q tremendously as he’s always been a favorite of mine. good luck to you but not when playing against the cards. sorry my loyalty is to az.
No!
We lost Warner, Boldin, Dansby and Rolle this off season. And Carr won’t be signed he will probably go to 49ers and he’s not good anyways

Well haven't officially lost Dansby or Rolle yet
Might not even lose Dansby at all

Well Rolle is allowing the Cards to match the Giants offer, but they will probably outbid us

don't these guys - dansby & rolle - want anything other than $....
i would think that if it came down to a million or two more guaranteed they would consider going back to the team that gave them the opportunity to play pro ball in the 1st place.
Sweet
At least we got more picks even though we had to give up a 5th. We have a lot of holes to fill via draft.

Don't Panic
This is good, look at all the gems the cards have picked up in the mid rounds the last couple years.
Also looking at the talent at linebackers in this years draft has got to have the cards counting the seconds till the draft.
1st and 2nd round is going to be a linebacker/DE or a nose tackle.
Lets now get Lito Sheppard and Ryan Clark and we will be better off than last year.
THis isnt good
we dont get to use his skills at the position for the entire year. This puts even more pressure on Matt… the wheels are coming off!!!
The record without Boldin indicates otherwise.
Getting a third round pick and moving the fifth round up to a fourth is good for the team. WR is one of the few spots that don’t need help. The alternative was to let Boldin walk after next season anyway.
Deal is done, Bolding + 5th rnd pick for Ravens 3rd and 4th
I was born in Buffalo, and NO, it's not a suburb of New York City
We got rid of bolding instead of boldin.
Now we are in trouble fellas.
Bolding was the best on the team!
Fitz has to recruit people to come here in free agency next season!

Why is everyone concerned about losing Boldin?
1. Keeps getting hurt, don’t care that he fights through injuries the fact is he’s deteriorating faster than most WR’s.
2. Our record as it stands is 6 wins and 1 loss with Fitz and Breaston starting, and that was before the coming out party of Doucet!
3. He wanted to leave. We’ve restructured his contract for millions of dollars once before already and 1 year after that, just because a BETTER receiver gets a BETTER deal he bitches? Poor character.
4. We need the draft picks badly, too many holes to fill this off-season. Long term, if we use these picks wisely, we will have a monster team in 2-3 years and hopefully Leinart develops at the same time.
Would have liked to get a 2nd rounder but back to back 3rd and 4th round picks is pretty nice!
GO CARDINALS!!!

you are taking a stat from ONE year with WARNER as qb? I take it you dont work for the nfl in any sort of recruiting job. Thank God. The reciever position just got worse with this and that makes matt lienart worse. He needs a year of confidence building. Its not happening now.
That's over 2 years
I take it you don’t watch the Cardinals avidly. Thank God. I didn’t say the WR position got BETTER i’m saying the drop off shouldn’t be too significant. Yes that is with Warner as qb but that doesn’t reflect on the skill of the WR’s. They’re going to have to step up and make better catches for a qb that is not nearly as accurate. Also pay attention to where I said 2-3 years. Obviously Leinart needs to develop ‘supathrive’. Pay attention you might learn something.

I'll miss Boldin but at least some draft picks came out of it.
And I do like the way the Ravens play, so he should fit in well there.

another sad chapter!
Man!, the sorry front office just away the chance to make the playoffs next season! This team is average now. I cannot think of another team that has withstood the losses similiar to what the cardinals have had in an off season and made the playoffs the next year! I don’t care what anyone says this was a blow to this team!

Miami of last year.
If they didn’t they still had a good year.

did they make the playoffs?
no they didn’t! This is another example of accepting mediocrity from this franchises sorry ownership! as of now the 49’ers have passed this team as the class of the division in my opinion!

Def not mediocre
I believe going from 1-15 to 11-5 is no where near mediocre. I’m sorry if I can’t be as negative and bitter as you about my beloved Cards. You’re still living in the past while I’ve grown up to be optomistic about the present and future. Their 11-5 was done with a lot of no names on defense (a free agent overhaul) and an experimental wildcat. We have an established O and D and while we’re changing a lot of tires, the engine will still run. Just believe. Its good for the spirit. If they suck next year, then you can say you were right.

AFC North weather
With as injury prone as Boldin has been playing in Arizona you have to wonder how he will hold up playing outdoors in the cold so much.
the cardinals without boldin will not be as good as they are with him
in general, possession receivers like bolding help young qbs (kind of like a tight end does), and boldin is one of the best possession receivers in the league. with that said, he does get injured a lot and has this annoying habit of trying to play through injuries. when we sat him out for one game this year, he came back the next few weeks and played like a monster (the minnesota game comes to mind).
also, a good defense will help leinart much more than boldin

90%....
of the people on this thread are making my head hurt so badly that I want to beat it into the keyboard right now! Take a deep breath, this is just the beginning of the FA and up next is the draft. We will be fine and we are not going to suffer as badly as some of you are making it sound. Star power doesn’t make our team what it is and has been… i.e. Dansby, Rolle, Boldin….
Sorry folks, park's closed. Moose out front shoulda told ya.

I hope so.
But the loss of Dansby and Rolle will hit the defense hard, and they don’t need this in a year where there was already going to be some adjusting with Matty taking over.

I'm not worried. We may take a step back next season but we will be in good shape for the 2011 season.
I actually like what Whiz is doing. Building through the draft and not overpaying divas.
Karlos will be missed. Rolle sucked it up in the saints game and I’m excited to see what R Johnson can do.
Rolle was out of that game in the 1st qtr.
I am concerned about Johnson considering he was inactive for so many games last season. I don’t think they’ll be handing him the spot. Rolle certainly seems overpaid with that contract though.
+1
You’d think that the best safety in the NFL = the best PAID safety in the NFL. These ball players are gonna keep making more and more money just for playing a game. Ridiculous.
