Who are you hoping the team picks up now?
After yesterday, seeing the heart of the franchise being traded to Baltimore, and the Giants/Dolphins doing some serious overpaying for Dansby and Rolle the Cardinals really need to get out there and look for some replacements along with a couple of other people to fit the rest of the holes.
I have already said that I want to get a good OLB in the first round of the Draft, someone like Brandon Graham. But they need to start going for a few people before the draft. I know about Larry Foote and Ryan Clark being the current ideas that the team has in part of the transition to becoming the Steelers of the NFC West. So, here are a couple of the players I would be interested in.
O. J. Atogwe, FS, Rams: He is good, and they could pick him up cheaply since the Rams don't seem to recognize that he is one of the few good players on their Defense.
Darren Sharper, FS, Saints: Playmaker, and he could be used to fill the gap for a year until they get someone else or to let Rashad Johnson develop.
Greg Olsen, TE, Bears: I know TE isn't a big need, but some people have been talking about getting a good receiving TE who can go over the middle and make the tough catches for Leinart and this is the guy. Martz may wind up getting rid of him because he hates throwing to TEs and Olsen isn't a great blocker.
These are just the main three that I have looked at so far, I'm still looking at some of the other Free Agents and people that the team could trade for. Is there anyone that you guys would be interested in?

If he's healthy
I’d take Jamal Williams, but I do have to wonder why even someone like AJ Smith would release the game’s best NT.
Otherwise, I’d go with Larry Foote to fill the hole left by Dansby, probably Clark to fill in for Rolle. Pennington would probably do okay in the type of offense we run if it was necessary to play him.
I should add
that Joey Porter still holds a lot of intrigue for me as well. It was only two seasons ago when he had a 17-sack season and was still good for, I believe, 9 last season in a limited role.
Atogwe's young
He has plenty of game left so he wouldn’t just be a stop gap measure. Pretty good ball hawk too. Do you know what the compensation to the Rams would be?

ILB
With Dansby leaving that is our most pressing need. Without a rock solid NT we need a guy who can stuff the run. We have Cody Brown, Will Davis and Stevie Baggs on the outside and I think they will have to do for now. Hopefully we get some instance production from them. So all we have left in the middle is Hayes. Need to fill that gap.
Than safety. Rolle leaving has left us paper thin at safety. Would love to pick up Atogwe, definitely worth a few draft picks in my mind.
They are who we thought they were!
Jamal Williams if healthy would be awesome
But I think his health issues might be why AJ let him go. Or he just pissed him off some how, A J Smith seems pretty vindictive sometimes!

Looks like the Cards traded for Jets safety Kerry Rhodes
From ESPN’s Adam Schefter’s twitter:
“Filed to ESPN: Arizona trades a fourth-round pick this year and a seventh next year for Jets S Kerry Rhodes.”
Nice pick!

Kickass
now if he plays like he did earlier in his career he may actually be an upgrade over Antrel in certain situations
Jared Gaither!
He is MORE than worth our 1st round pick this year. Offer him a monster contract (he’s worth it) with some genius poison pill attached (so the Ravens can’t match), and give away our 1st round pick, and this entire off-season will be a massive success.
wow, didnt know Gaither was a Restricted FA, that would be great! and since they have Oher they would let him go.
I would love it if the bears would take a 3rd for Greg Olsen, then basically Boldin ( traded for a 3rd and 4th) becomes Olsen (a 3rd) and Rhondes (4th)
Linebackers
Cards need to focus on the LB position…gotta make up for loss of Dansby and retirement of Berry.
The guys listed are great, but we got other positions to fill.

Yeah, but who would you suggest? The FA market is thin – Larry Foote has already talked with the FO, and he’s one of the better options out there for us at ILB; he knows his shit, and is consistent enough to serve as a one or two year stop-gap alongside Gerald Hayes. We’ll probably be drafting an ILB in the mid rounds, as well (or could even pick up a Brandon Spikes in the 2nd, or be awesome and snatch up either Morrison or Howard from the Raiders).
And Berry’s hardly a big loss; we still have Clark Haggans (our best OLB last year), Cody Brown and Will Davis, and should be drafting an OLB within the first three rounds (personally, I would kill to land Jerry Hughes in the 1st, he’s going to be a monster and I personally think he’s the best, pure pass rusher in the draft). 4 OLB’s should be fine, assuming there aren’t major injuries.
Personally, I’m more concerned about what’s going to happen at NT.
TE Derek Fine and S Aaron Rouse
I don’t think there are any LB’s available that would upgrade our corps. with the possible exceptions of Foote and Porter. I’m not particularly interested in Porter, though. Not having him means more playing time for Brown, Davis and Baggs. I agree with Chg91 that NT is a bigger concern (pun!). No matter who we have at MLB, their effectiveness will be limited if we don’t have at least a solid one.
As for Fine, he was a promising prospect for the Bills but seems to be the odd man out of Gailey’s new system (or perhaps their rash of TE injuries last year). He’d be cheap, and I expect an upgrade over Spach.
Rouse is a big guy that’s been around some. Solid on special teams and started more games on defense than maybe he earned (injuries) but could be good competition for Ware and RJ. With the Rhodes trade, I’m not as interested in bringing him in as I was yesterday. Ware has shown as much effectiveness as we require from the position, imo, but if Ware gets away from us…
Brandon Graham or Ricky Sapp in the first round of the draft would be great

i've got a couple besides some of az's own
these are guys on my list of possibles – j.williams, l.bodden, l.foote, j.porter, and d.carr – as far as ufa’s are concerned.
i wouldn’t mind possibly looking at trades for s.rogers and k. morrison.
Think Troy Smith got a 5th-round tender
But I don’t think he really makes sense for the team anymore. There are enough questions floating around Leinart, we don’t need a back-up with even more baggage. Plus, we made our splash and I’d like to hold on to as many picks as we can from here on out.
There’s word that Miami is in a position to shop either Tyler Thigpen or Pat White. Since they re-signed Pennington, nobody anticipates them to run with 4 QBs. It would be a similar situation to T. Smith — questions around both — but either one should be pretty cheap… I like the two, but they still need some plenty of work… not sure it would make sense for our QB situation, and plus, what would we offer?
Wait and see if they release one.
Pat White doesn’t fit the profile really. He hasn’t been around long enough. Thigpen maybe.
Joey Porter is going to visit on Tuesday

All this news almost made me forget about Stevie Baggs coming to the team...
I wonder if he is going to work out…

LB NEEDS
IS ANTONIO PEIRCE STILL AVAILABLE? I THINK HE’S A BETTER 3-4 FIT THAN PORTER BY FAR. FUJITA WOULD OF BEEN A GOOD FIT BUT HE WENT TO THE BROWNS.

![According to PFT.com, O.J. Atogwe has been resigned by St. Louis. Seeing how he is one of their few good defensive players, I don't know why it took them so long to resign him.
[Why did I use this picture of him? The face he is making made me laugh, okay?]](http://cdn1.sbnation.com/fan_shot_images/127354/ato237308_small.jpg)
