Revenge Of The Birds Community Mock Draft: 19th Pick, Atlanta Falcons

With the 19th pick of the Revenge of the Birds community mock draft, the Atlanta Falcons select....
Brandon Graham | DE | Michigan

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

GM: durst

Strengths: Graham has some excellent moves, and can attack in several different ways. Although he doesn't have the best size,  he has great power and strength for his size. He uses his leverage against bigger opponents. Has a nice spin move, has some speed and burst off the edge, uses the bull rush. Has a high motor and wraps up the ball carrier, relentless in pursuit. Is a hard worker, loves the game of football, has football instincts and IQ. Has nice lateral movement, uses his hands well to get off blocks, quick recognition of the play, knows what he has to do.

Weaknesses: He has very short arms and could have some problems getting the same leverage in the NFL. Obviously at 6'1 he doesn't have great size, his open field speed has been questioned by some scouts.

Why the Falcons will draft him: The Falcons moved quickly in free agency to address the CB issue, signing the top free agent corner on the market in Dunta Robinson, and bringing back veteran Brian Williams,  while the younger Brent Grimes and Chris Owens came on late in the year. That left pass rushing DE and OLB as the biggest priorities, but with Falcons' fans favorite, OLB Sean Weatherspoon gone, we took the DE with the best "motor", vs the ones with the best combine numbers. Paired with last years selection of Peria Jerry(in the first round, lost for the season in only the second game),  Graham hopefully will provide us with a much improved pass rush. Even though younger DEs Lawrence Sidbury and Kroy Biermann had flashes of brilliance, top pass rusher John Abraham's production dropped to 5.5 sacks in 2009 after dominating with 16.5 sacks in 2008.

Thanks to durst for making this pick. That puts DaCards on the clock with the Texans pick and LAcardsfan on deck with the Bengals pick. Please send both picks to me sometime Monday at revengeofthebirds@gmail.com. The remaining picks are after the jump...

Can't argue with this pick

I’m not big on selecting 3-4 OLB’s in the 1st round, but this is one guy I would have been happy to see the Cards draft at 26. I’m sure he will be great at DE in Atlanta’s 4-3.

A really good pick up for ATL

They need it. D is a big ? for them.

What? I didn't break it, I was just testing its durability, and then I placed it in the woods becuase it's made out of wood and I just thought he should be with his family.
